Still heard nothing. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0

Gingernutty I've been reading your other thread about your PITA neighbours and their troublesome kids. What I want to know is: why haven't you sold this blasted house yet? I'd be prepared to "lose" ten or twenty grand in not getting it sale-ready just to be shot of the damned thing.
Have you got your eye on something in a better area where you will be happy yet? To be honest, I think I'd just get rid of the current place once and for all, and rent for six months. You can't put a price on contentment or peace and quiet.0 -
I'm looking to tart it up for sale. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0

You can't tart up bad neighbours.0 -
True, but I can make it fit for human habitation and increase someone's chances of getting a mortgage.......
Seriously, the bathroom and kitchen are that duff. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -

But wharever sort if kitchen and bathroom you choose to put in there's a good chance that a buyer will rip them out soon after moving and won't be prepared to cover the cost of your improvements in the purchase price. Better to sell quickly as a doer upper, I think.0 -
If the kitchen and bathroom are serviceable then putting in new ones will not necessarily increase the value, and may not even make it any more desirable. ANY property priced really sensibly will find a buyer no matter how shabby. Knock twenty grand off what other properties are selling for round there and someone will bite your hand off. Very possibly a local landlord. Get onto it!
For goodness sake lady you deposited hundreds of thousands of pounds in your account not that long ago, so stop monkeying around and flog this place, find somewhere decent to live and start enjoying a better life.
I'm going to be very cross with you if I read any more of your posts and discover you're still in the same bloody awful house with the same bloody awful neighbours when you could be somewhere more congenial, so get it on the market and start packing!0 -
Gingernutty, I bought the house before this one as a doer-upper, it only had a sink in the kitchen. Yes I got a mortgage on it, and quite frankly I was glad as I could have the kitchen I wanted without having to rip anything more out. The bathroom was servicable though even though it was horrible. Just a thought for you.Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0 -

Awwww. Thanks guys.
The bathroom has no independent ventilation and there is no ventilated lobby between the bathroom and kitchen.
The electrics (including live 3 pin sockets) have been condemned in the bathroom. I've been told not to touch anything else, just switch the light on.
The plan, such as it is is move out (try renting somewhere to get a feel for the area), do up house, move in long enough for it to be my main residence and then sell. All the while looking for somewhere else to buy.
That's still on. The complaints to the police will have to be declared but hopefully, a BTL landlord will buy the place and put in scutty tenants.
I will have my revenge....... Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0
