There was a point a few years ago when we did never got on at all, could hardly be in the same space together. So as I knew that an argument would always start I made a point of starting the argument rather than waiting for it to evolve.
So one weekend she came home from uni, 2 trains and a 2 hour trip. I started an argument deliberatley, she got the train and went home again
Thankfully we have moved on from this stage now. Now we can go for about 4 days before we get fed of up of each other :T
She has been left home for 6 years now and things are a lot better than they were, even from a year ago. But you never ever stop being their mum :D

It is your home that you pay for. If they choose not to like it, tell them that Travelodge are good value. My brother's partner is like that in that she's very "posh". My mum's house is a tip because she's a hord. Me, the 5 kids and the OH love visiting Grandma but my brother rarely does and when he does he stays in the Travelodge. His loss as Grandma lashes out lots of sweets and goodies :D:A

Good luck, at least it's not the VAT man, he came in once when I was working for a company (we had an office over a window company and it had low eave beams) we all knew to duck down in my office BUT the VAT man did'nt, walked straight into it, quickest VAT inspection ever:rotfl: and no he did'nt hurt himself badly, would'nt laugh at that:(
