ok, I have been debating for a while whether to ask this... but you're all so helpful I am praying that someone will have some fantastic suggestion.... :)

Basically I volunteer for an animal rescue who rely on donations and fundraising. It's been going since 2003 and we've always done well.

However, recently donations have become less and less and things are now at a critical point :( The lady (now my friend) who owns the rescue has done all she can and I've done my best to support her with thinking of ways to raise money etc and sending her my tesco goodies :D my friend always puts the animals first and often goes without so I send these things her way, and try and donate to the rescue when I can, but it's not enough anymore and things are very bad :(

So.... I was wondering, does anyone have any ideas on ways to raise some much needed cash? Or are there any secret millionaires out there that would care to sponsor us!? :rotfl:

Does she get her animal food wholesale? Maybe you could help her stock up when theres a glitch/megga offer on? Maybe try a wholesalers (our PTA has a card for bookers, not sure if you have something like that in your area?)

Agree with what others have said about car booting, and possibly asking your local school if you can 'hire' a table to sell 'tesco' bits and bobs (theres allsorts of bits and bobs from Mr Ts etc that I stash away for little prizes/tombola etc for our school stalls)...just keep your reciepts and remove the cost of your outlay out of the takings.

Some schools have a 'charity day' where kids run their own stalls and donate to a local charity, maybe you could make links with a PTA near you and see if your group could be considered (is it a registered charity?) Infants and junior schools love to get involved with 'local community' things like this, which they can maybe link to something in the curriculum at the time? Could the person who runs it maybe do a talk on pet care or maybe have a class visit to them?...it would all help to raise the profile of the group and hopefully bring in some money.

Our Morrisons has allowed the small local RSPCA to have a donation box for dog and cat food near the exit, and its regularly full, maybe its worth asking all your local stores if they would consider having a donation box? (MrTs also have 'community champions' who can help with donations and fundraising too)

....sorry I dont know any millionaires though!:rotfl:
