    Hi guys,

Back to work for DH and me today (boo!) and had a problem with my petrol mower (I'm a gardener) so couldn't do as much as I needed. Hey ho, client very understanding and hopefully can pop back later in the week once DH has taken a look at it.

Had an impromtu BBQ last night with BIL and neices which DH paid for. Lots of burgers leftover in the fridge so children can munch on those today. They all got up late due to the jet-lag so are on a go slow.

Tea tonight is meatballs (ys), napoletana sauce and spaghetti. Looking forward to some UK sized portions after the enormous platefuls we've been gorging on for the last two weeks :o

Loving all the tutorials on making milk and the coconut goodies. You are all an inspiration :A

Afternoon all! Haven't been on here for a few days, have been rather frivolous with spends....went to two bbqs and couldn't turn up empty handed so bought a couple of bottles of vino, plus bought a book for a leaving present and been up to mr t's far too much for my liking.....so all in all have spent a disgraceful £103.40 :o:eek::o

I given myself a very stern talking to and promise to behave in the future!
Have a good day everyone, am off to update my sig :o

Had another NSD :) Stayed home and spent all day in the garden, chopping back shrubs which had obviously taken lessons from some triffids! DH, Mam and Dad all helped as well, and we've made a huge difference to how the garden looks. It actually looks like it's cared for now :o instead of looking overgrown and messy!
Will use up the second half of the packet of quorn mince in the freezer to make spag bol I think.
Enjoy the sunshine if you have some :) Remember the suncream!

Just looking in as I've got a moment - this month is turning into the busiest I've had for a loooong time. 2 weddings, an anniversary, overtime and training courses ... actually looking forward to it being quiet for a while! In any case, I'm starting to get myself together for September now. That'll start next week for me (I think) so am trying to keep up to date. :)

Just wanted to say to Pennygrabber that I really feel for you. ((hugs))

I'm clearing bits of my freezer at the moment so it's a lucky dip meal tonight. :) Have a lovely evening, everyone.

    K xx

I dread to think by how much i have gone over budget this month!! Maybe this wasnt the best time to do my 1st GC, with it being school holidays and all!

Well, there'll certianly be no more overspending, and ad hoc visits to the shops, as my son broke his ankle at the weekend! I have borrowed a wheelchair for him from the red cross, and left a donation of £20. The hospital gave him crutches, but he is only 8 years old and has developmetal coordination problems, so he looks like new born bambi trying to use his crutches (i.e. falling down every 2mins!).

So i have now done a huge inventory of what i already have in, and have come up with 24meals i can make of what i have in the house already.

Spent the weekend away helping OH on his latest project. We weren't really in a position to cater for ourselves properly so had to purchase lunches. As they came from SMs and as my "eating out" budget has been well and truly blown, I'm gonna cheat and call 'em gorceries. So £10.10 from Mr M (it included snacks to last him the week too) and £6 from Mr T later, my GC budget stands at £130.84 / £180 for August. Not unhappy with that. Helps that I had a week not feeding OH - although I did take him some hm ready meals to warm in the microwave this week. I reckon I can stretch out what I've got left to last until the end of the month - particularly if I go helping OH again this weekend. Although now I know the set up, I can be more prepared with hm lunches too!

WantToBeSE sorry about your boy's broken ankle, hope he gets better soon, poor child!

Today I managed to keep the GC as no-spend, but spent £25 on DH's cousin's birthday present and £2.25 on drinks and a small cake shared with DH (entertainment budget). Actually one of the hot drinks was free because we had it in the Waitrose cafe and if you have a MyWaitrose card you can get a fee hot drink per day.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Reporting a spend of £75.47 in Mr As. Hoping that will see me into the fist week of sept also though. (well, bar some fresh bits!)

Think I'm still just about in budget, I can't remember ATM!

Pennygrabber - I really feel for you. Exactly the same thing happened to us when DS had a BBQ while we were away. His friends slammed the fridge door, resulting in the freezer door opening and everything was soft when we got back. Knowing you as we do, it would have been even fuller than ours. So sorry.

Oh gosh. Made spicy coleslaw tonight and in a moment I added a dash of tabasco :eek:to the mayonnaise (low-fat and diluted with lemon juice and white wine vinegar) - well three really... and I had already chopped up a little red chilli. Oh my goodness. It seemed like a reasonable idea at the time. We like food spicy and the dairy content in the mayo was going to soften the spiciness (no chance!). Note to self - don't try that again:rotfl:

Well no need to do anything other than grill the meat, potato slices and courgette wedges as no other accoutrements needed! DH still eat it. He must really love me.;)

Spending has edged over the last hundred mark and still over a week to go for us. Touch and go if we will make it this month.

    Good luck everyone
