See the underscored bit there? That's where you went wrong. No such thing as loyalty with banks. You owe them nothing and they certainly owe you nothing either.

I'd give up, consider yourself lucky that you had it free for all that time and move on.

Generally loyalty doesn't exist in the financial sector at all, but these accounts were based on loyalty and grandfather rights which Lloyds did not have to give.
They could have chosen to pull these accounts altogether or immediately charge when the switch over (Jan 2005) occurred, but they made a business decision not to. It's a perk many have had for a long time, but one day I'm sure it will change for all.

How about discrimination against those that actually pay for the added value accounts

If the fee waiver was abolished 100% across the board I could accept it..... and this will happen eventually.

For now they make it up as they go along and pee off customers along the way.
If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.
If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.

I wonder if the customers that are losing the fee waiver are those who belong to the branches that are being sold to the Co-Op?

No. My branch will still be Lloyds ..until I close my whole family's accounts and leave what is turning into another Santander customer service disaster bank. Well done Antonio! !

    No joy as I expected.

On Oct 2nd I will be switching my main current account to the Nationwide who offer free Travel insurance and eventually I'll be taking all my familys buisness and investments away from Lloyds Banking Group which amounts to a six-figure sum.

In the meantime I'll be as much as an inconvenience to them as possible. I have put 1p back into all my old savings accounts which I will leave there ad infinitum. I've ordered debit cards, paying-in books and cheque books for all our Vantage accounts. I've also reinstated paper statements for all our accounts which will provide some welcome free heat from our wood burner courtesy of the bank!!!

It's petty I know.... but it makes me feel better and I'll never darken their doors again.

Lloyds = The new Santander. I wonder where their CEO came from?

Would it not just be better to move on instead of dwelling on this. Keeping accounts open with 1p and ordering paper statements has absolutely no effect on them and ultimately any time they spend servicing your accounts is costing you as the taxpayer.

The only way to have any impact is to close your accounts, but you're just a tiny drop in the ocean to them and you'll be cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I've done that before - feels good doesn't it?
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

But I will be closing my accounts .. all but about 10p. The tax payer has been permanentky stuffed by LLoyds casino bankers and we'll never get our money back.
