You should know better being a Lloyds man. Cast your mind back a short while ago. Certain customers were offered a preferential rate on a particular savings account. Some of us received letters saying we could continue with a certain product at an enhanced rate, whereas many others received very different letters and did not receive that rate unless they called to query it and mentioned MSE and the Telegraph ? (who picked up on it) in the process.

I didn't take the offer up as there were better rates elsewhere, but it was known as the Lloyds Incentive Saver If my memory serves me.

I have the letter with the black circle and no mention of the monthly charge.

Would be interesting to know how they select those that are to pay the fee and those that aren't

I asked their CS dept rep bluntly, as there were at least two letters (black square and circle) there must be some criteria. I was told that it was done on a "case by case" basis. I was told I could complain, which I did and I was put on hold for just 5 minutes whilst he discussed the matter with his supervisor and I was then told the complaint was not upheld and that was that. I asked him to put on file that I intended to take the matter further,

My letter to the CEO specifcially requests, that as a loyal customer for over 35 years, I deserve to have an better explanation as to why I have effectively been discriminated against. I doubt whether I will get a satisfactory answer.

I also own some (worthless) LLoyds shares and will copy the letter to the full board of directors and also the Financial Ombudsman.

My faith in bankers tells me my efforts will be fruitless but at least I will feel better. I owe it to my late Grandfather and Father who loyally banked with Lloyds all their lifes and were never treated with such disrespect.
If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.
If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.

I hope you pursue it and get the outcome you desire. I know it seems unfair and unjust, but they obviously some form of criteria to distinguish those that do against those that don't.

See the underscored bit there? That's where you went wrong. No such thing as loyalty with banks. You owe them nothing and they certainly owe you nothing either.

I'd give up, consider yourself lucky that you had it free for all that time and move on.

I didnt have it for free really... they had a least £2k in my account earning me no interest for years, they actually gained from my deposit.

I probably will move on... But continue to milk them to the max with just 3 vantage accounts on a circular S/O.

That's the way to do it! Make sure you get them to send statements every month and get your debit cards replaced regularly :D

Absoluteluy. The spirit of this forum is " fighting your corner". Iif we all rolled over, gave up and moved on we'd still be getting ripped off even more.

As a loyal AA customer I was paying over £100more for my joint membership than a newcomer. So I complained and got an instant £120 reduction.

I dont think Lloyds will be so easy but everyone has the right to complain if nothing else.

I have previously written & emailed the CEO/Board of Directors of companies and found polite complaining to the very top can sometimes work. I did with BT, Sky and Dixons on previous occassions when their customer service was woefully lacking and got results.

If I get nowhere, as you suggest I intend to keep a penny or so in each of my old Lloyds savings accounts and go back to paper statements. Good idea also about getting cheque books and debit cards for the vantage accounts which I'll never use as I'll treat those current a/cs as 3% instant access savings a/cs!

My correspondence to the CEO/Directors has generated a direct response to me personally but as yet no final satisfactory conclusion has been reached ....... discussions ongoing....

.... Nationwide Flex Account with free travel insurance opened just in case!!

Good.... the more bad publicity for this discrimination against loyal customers the better!

    Prize Bankers!!

How about discrimination against those that actually pay for the added value accounts
