And would it help to reinforce your reasons for refusal to allow the viewing if you were "in bed" after your night shift (ie in your jimjams) if they decided to force their way in? The police would arrive to find a vulnerable female distressed and distraught at the prospect of burly men breaking down her door when she was asleep after she'd specifically asked them not to. Would make a fantastic local news story.0

Going forward, even if they don't turn up, I am honestly quite scared of them and do not want any more viewings until I leave. In the least case I do not want the two involved parties from today anywhere near me and my home. Is this something I can demand?
Yes " As a result of the bullying and haressment from Des, I am no longer prepared to agree with viewings for the remainder of the tenancy."If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

Ahh Des hasn't done anything yet!
I assume he is the handyman. They are saying bring a locksmith AND the handyman (Des) to take the door off. So all in all they are threatening me with FOUR men coming round. Viewer, LAgent, Handyman and locksmith...
But yes, Agent is 100% harassing me in my eyes, despite only sending me one email...0 -
Fingers crossed that it will all be ok for you tomorrow. You are well prepared and I don't think there is much more you can do at the moment. Get tomorrow over then tell them you don't want any more viewings. I will eat my (fake) fur hat if they take your door off. Good luck and try not to be scared.0

Hopefully the viewer will run a mile, I wouldn't have anything to do with an EA like this and would do my utmost to inform the owner of the property."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -

I would have thought the same... but who knows...
I am trying to possibly find contact for the landlady, but I can only find someone who was widowed in 2005, whereas they told me that she had just lost her husband this year, hence the sale.
I suppose she could have got remarried, OR they used it as a sob story to let them value it as my grandad had just died at the time and naturally I wasnt really in any fit state to be having people round...0 -
Hah... pretty sure Ive just found her Twitter...
Weird, she seems very active in the community. Maybe she would be a half decent person.0 -
Just was looking on the ARLA site regarding access:
http://www.arla.co.uk/information/tenants/rights-of-access/
I love how it makes zero mention of any tenants rights, as if that was the cut and dry answer. No wonder these people think they can do this.0 -

Looks to be rather out of date re deposit schemes too!
http://www.arla.co.uk/information/tenants/tenancy-deposit/
The best way for a tenancy deposit (bond) to be held during the tenancy is by the ARLA member agent as "stakeholder" between the parties (landlord and tenant).
Unbelievable that the Association representing agents is so misinformed!
Fingers crossed for tomorrow, I'd be fairly sure they won't even bother turning up.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

Do you have a video camera? Or one on your phone? If so, then have that at hand and (in the highly unlikely event that they do turn up) inform them that you are recording their attempted break-in. Make sure that you film the registration numbers of any vehicles that you see pull up. A cheery "Hi, Des - just wanted you to know that I am filming your break-in. Do you have anything you want to say for all those folks on YouTube?" would be great.marliepanda wrote: »Going forward, even if they don't turn up, I am honestly quite scared of them and do not want any more viewings until I leave. You don't need to demand anything. Ignore every single attempt at communication on their part until you are out of that flat. I genuinely think that your niceness in allowing viewings has backfired on you, unfortunately. No more niceness (for now anyway).0
