Bingo! we have a winner!
I could deal with a bunch of people on the internet thinking I'm an ignorant idiot for £3 million a year.0 -
The first bit is easy... this forum could be considered a masterclass by some people
Just because people have different opinions to you (the hypothetical you, not necessarily the person quoted) doesn't automatically make them an idiot, even if it is Clarkson (or Strider590, or Mikey72)
If they can't come up with a valid justification for their opinions then they might be an idiot. If they can give valid reasoning then that is fine, something both Strider590 and Mikey72 regularly do even though they regularly come to very opposite opinions. Neither of them are idiots, they just disagree.0 -

The real fun of this forum is putting up a tongue in cheek post like the OP (worried jim) and sit back and just see where it goes ! The good ones like this just take on a life of their own.You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0 -
It does get interesting, I agree. Most of us on here are polarised, we have eclectic views, (look it up,
:D), but as long as it stays like that and doesn't get into a slanging match it's great.
This issue arises when someone tries to impose his views on another, then it really gets interesting.
Back to topic. I'm not a professional driver, but I respect them, and I also try to drive professionally.
I don't recall ever having a wave of appreciation for letting 1 out etc, from a Beemer, and if it's a soft top then you'll get the finger for looking at them;)
(Stokes the fire.)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

Sometimes it brings out interesting discussion, sometimes it's a bit pointless.
Only issue I have with the OP is that this story is very very old. I remember first reading it on Usenet back in the day0 -

I need to think of something new here...0 -
Maybe I just automatically tune them out, or am generally used to it. I dunno.
This forum doesn't seem that bad compared to some places out on the internet.
Thanks for the compliment though0 -
Of course not. and that Strider is not actually the maniac that some people label him because of his views and driving style. .
Stop right there fella, you have gone too far now.:o:o:D:D;);)

"The other day I was cruising along as usual coming onto one of my motorways, which was very busy with inferior cars.
First off, I couldn't believe that the volume of traffic DIDN'T slow down for me AT ALL as I came off the slip road! I had to squeeze into a barely big enough gap between two cars in order to get onto my motorway!
The driver of the car behind me did realise his mistake though and honked an apology to me with a long blast of his horn.
Unbelievably, I had to do the same again before I could get to the BMW lane. Anyway, once I was in the BMW lane and posing along at 110 mph enjoying the adulation that the inferior car drivers were giving me, I noticed an inferior car ahead of me which was not only in the BMW lane of my motorway, but was driving at a ridiculous 70 mph! Naturally, I got within a foot or so of his rear bumper and flashed my headlights to remind him he shouldn't be in the BMW lane of my motorway and to get out of my way.
Of course, once he realised it was a BMW behind him, he did just that, but I could hardly believe it when he pulled straight back out behind me! He also tried to keep up with me and when he realised I would out-run him, he put on some blue lights in his front grill and urged me to get onto the hard shoulder so that he could congratulate me on my excellent car. Needless to say, I was eager to oblige and when we had stopped, the man gave me a piece of paper confirming what I already knew - that my car goes fast!
Apparently he wants everyone to know what a superior car I have, so I had to take my drivers licence to a police station to be sent away to have some points put on! (They're not free points either - they're £20 each and I was only allowed 3.) But the man at the police station said that because I drive a BMW, it won't be much longer before I earn the full 12 points, and then I won't even NEED a driving licence, so they will take it off me!
See, now THAT'S the sort of respect you get when you own and drive a BMW!
"In a later incident, I was rendered apopleptic by the fact that the traffic in front of me did not part like the Red Sea before Moses in order to defer to my superiority"**Debt Free as of 15:55 on Friday 23rd March 2012**And I am staying that way
