My mate try to keep up to one of those once and we failed only to find out it had more torque then an M5 but also had 2 turbos banged in under the hood.

Exactly! It was more fun on country lanes than on the motorway IMO!

    Excellent post Jim!

I don't understand why anyone would buy an M5 now that this exists, and does almost 50mpg (ok less when you're having fun) with basically the same performance as an M5.

To the OP. Funny 10 yrs ago, but I think you'll find the BMW lane is now reserved solely for the use of Audi A4's.
This is not why I am considering purchasing an old one. :p

OP needs to substitute BMW with Audi...... They are by far the worst on the roads these days.

Agree about Audis, whenever you see the 4 rings in your rear view mirror you know you'll get some first-rate knobby behaviour coming your way. BMWs are comparatively well-driven.

Whenever you see the 4 rings in your rear view mirror you need to move your own ring instead of holding people up. :D

The last two days its been the Golf ladies that have shown exemplary driving, the first one driving the wrong way down a one way street - when she met my van head on she papped her horn is if I was in the wrong, with a que of traffic now behind me I pointed it out to her it was a one way road, her answer ? "ive always driven down here".

The second one - today driving through the city centre two cars in front was another lady and her Golf, we were in the right hand turn lane, no U turn clearly signed in fron as when turning right on the green traffic light traffic then merges from the right, so what does she do ? a U turn bless her.

Always remember Clarkson reviewing the latest (at the time) M3 and saying how it's a fantastic car and you can feel proud to own one now that all the cocks have switched to driving Audis.

I take it you do know that you dont have to form your motoring opinions around what Jeremy Clarkson says?

    Yes I do thanks.

I still find him funny though, even if he does act the part of an idiot.

I hadn't realised he was acting.
