No serial or parallel ports. Use a usb converter if desperate.

what do you all think about these 2 then then?

the n03153 inspiron 1501 with vista has 1mb ram and turion 64x2 TL50 for £340 with battery upgrade
the n03153A inspiron 1501 with vista 2mb ram and turion 64x2 tl56 for £422 with battery upgrade

guess the processor doesnt make much difference?
£340 seems cheap but £420 doesnt - BUT to upgrade the ram later wld cost me at least that much as need to get 2 x 1mb
recently upgraded my pc ram from 51? to 1.5mb and speed improved enormously but within about 2 mons back to a snails pace again - so what do you say about these 2 laptops then? not for gaming use really more home office, internet, email but dont want an annoying chugging donkey that takes 15 means from turning on to getting on the net like my home pc!!!

Have just bought a Gateway 6832B AT 499 from Tesco. Can anyone advise on how the spec of this would compare with the eqivalent Dell deal?

80 quid for double the ram and a faster processor sounds very good to me seeing as the memory alone would be 150 quid from Dell or 80 quid from crucial memory. If you are going to get the extra memory then you may as well give Dell the money as they are going to fit it and warranty your system and not having the base processor might also help you shift it when the time comes.

Dell are at it again, they have reduced prices twice in the past two weeks and this spec 1501 has come down from £386 to £353 and now to £328.

They have even provided customer choice of Vista or XP, I'd add the 6 cell battery for £11.

Deals are here, you can't buy better.

    Vista Model

    XP Home Model

Huge spec, 15.4" widescreen, 120gig HD, 1gig memory, 256 graphics card (shared), WiFi

Don't bother ringing Dell to barter, I tried they won't !

    Happy shopping.

For those who haven't purchased from Dell before, in order to get the best price alter the warranty in Hardware Support to 90 Days Collect and Return, you will still have a years warranty, but without the collect and return service.

Ive been looking for a laptop for ds for a while now and this seems like a good deal. As i know nothing technical about computers, i wondered if this laptop would be suitable to play Championship manager (he plays this every waking hour!)

    Thanks in advance

Had a call from Dell this afternoon asking if they coul deliver tomorrow, ordered Saturday night. Still haven't heard anything from the sales person about the upgraded machine but will pick that up with them this evening. Just wanted to update those of you with orders in that they're delivering fast!

can anyone recomend or advise as to what is the better
Vista Basic or Windows XP Home

i have ordered & cancelled the £386 Laptop
i cancelled because i was having doubts abouts Vista
and i found out that it was now on offer with XP home

any how when i phoned dell they offered me 10% off the price if i kept the laptop
    i agreed

    what do you think
    Hi,
I've just ordered two of the tl56 models, and was wondering about whether to try and get the upgrade to home premium... how easily did they offer you the discount NOT to cancel? How did you order in the first place? Phone or t'internet?
And what was it exactly you were cancelling FOR for them to offer the discount?
Wondering whether I can get a dsicount to offset the price of the home premium upgrade...:)

If you bought these before the price dropped last week, it's worth emailling them. I got a £25 discount which makes it an even cheaper deal :D .
Heard a lot of tales of bad Dell service but not many companies would give you a refund after you agreed to pay at a higher price.
