Amazing DELL Laptop Deals £328 Superb Spec XP or Vista

Can't see the 6400 dropping below £387, Dell need to maintain a distinction in price between the two models. Remember the 6400 at that price has the 6 cell battery as standard, Intel Core Duo not AMD Turion and it has the years CAR warranty.
Even with the 6 cell battery on the 1501 there's £50 between the two which isn't huge but enough to swing the 1501 back to the top of the Dell best laptop deal.
£50 is enough to buy your other half a nice meal out when they see the new laptop you've just bought and ask 'what the hell have you been buying now'.
Still trying to decide whether to go for the 1501 or 6400.
Is the Intel core duo much better than the AMD Turion.
Think I will go for Vista, but on what machine.
You could say I am half-way there.
What should I do? Can anyone make my mind up.0 -
I've bought one for my daughter, and, hopefully she will have it for a few years, so I thought that Vista was the way to go as I would guess that most software will now be rewritten to suit Vista rather than XP
The only other question was what she would be using it for. Basically msn, browsing, music and homework so I can't see her having a need for the supposed better speed of the intel chip. Now if she gets into video editing then I might have dropped a blob!0 -

Was exactly the same as you, couldn't make up my mind....but finally opted for the 6400 ! For under £400 with that kind of spec is pretty good.
For a mere £35 extra you get a better, faster processor and 1 years C+R which is worth the extra alone. I think the design also looks slightly better.0 -

That was part of the dilemma too !!! Have read many reviews about Vista, and yes it does have a few teething problems, but all new systems do. XP had thousands, but admittedly it is now a lot better through the service packs. I'm reliably informed that the first Vista service pack will be available very soon which will tidy up the bugs.
The enhancements on Vista Basic are also minimal, but I though of it as looking to the future. Only ordered mine about 6pm this evening and am considering ringing in the morning to try and upgrade to Vista premium as people seem to have got if for an extra £25ish.0 -
I'm also hoovering over whether to buy the 5100. I've stuck my 1300 on Ebay tonight hoping to raise some funds from that for this new upgrade. Hopefully I can muster up around £200 for that and I can put the rest towards the 5100.
I think I'm gonna order with Vista but no bother with a 6 Cell upgrade. With my last 1300 last year I did and it was worth an extra £11, but the battery lasted less than a year on full power and now lasts 40 minutes.0 -
To those of you who can't make up your minds I suggest you get your finger out.
Offers like this often only last a few days and Dell sometimes end the deals on Sunday night with new deals appearing on Monday.
I should add that in this case I don't know whats going to happen, I can't see such a better deal coming along anytime soon.0 -
