  • Another vote for frozen yorkshire puds from me too. I've tried to make them thousands of times and they always end up like biscuits :(

And I buy ready made puff pastry and filo pastry. I have no idea how you would make filo pastry yourself, but I bet it's time consuming and fiddly!

  • ready made pastry (haven't yet found a way of making pastry dairy free which the supermarkets do - DS is allergic)
    frozen chopped ginger and garlic
    gravy granules
all sorts of ready made condiments (cos they last longer than homemade IMO)

  • Hi Waxy Bean,

Are you trying to do normal shortcrust or puff pastry? I always make dairy free shortcrust type pastry (I'm vegan) and I just use TREX (vegetable shortening) or dairy free spread such as Pure or Vitalite or a mixture of both.

Puff pastry I buy frozen because it's way too time consuming to make at home for the rare occassions that I use it.
  • i've been re-budegting and thinking about where i can cut back further to pay more off of our debts...

one thing i cant give up is having my nails done.. i work in a coporate environment and as such personal presentation is highly important... i have coloured gel overlays which essentially are like permanent nail varnish... every 5 weeks or so this costs £28.

it saves me about 2 hours a week in painting them and a fortune in nail varnish/remover/cotton wool.

not very OS but an essential really for my lifestyle...

    how about you?

Heating! I always feel the cold and would rather not eat than have to turn the heating off.

My OH would never give up the Sky (inc sport package!!, so really the full works). I am not sure I would, due to him saying resolute No I never thought about it deeply.
Obviously would we loose jobs then we would, but not just because it is not OS.

I wouldn't give up restaurant eating. I like eating in the pub/restaurant at least once a month.

    And dishwasher.
  • Lush products (when I can afford it) and that's about it. Sky was a luxury too until recently but it was getting too expensive.

I'll never get rid of my tumble drier, it might use a bit more electric but I love fluffy towels :)
