I have reported scam teleales schemes to TS in the past, but we put so much trust in banks that I would NEVER believe that they would do such devious things....

Worst thing was the people who were getting their accounts changed to the charging ones just go in and say "I want it changed back please, its a bit naughty really isn't it".

I'd be in there demanding the refund of all fees!!! Some people just take it on the chin though and this scum get millions of pounds for conning people!!!

and let's not forget, Barclays is probably a good representation of the dispicable goings on in the other big banks too! I enjoyed the bit where the trainer stated bounced cheques etc only cost about £1.50/2 to process.

Nice to have it on film, though Barclays will probably say that was his opinion and on no way represents blah blah, I can't hear you anymore Barclays, my ears are bleeding from all the lies. Got to lie down a moment, shut my eyes and dream about the big fat cheque I'm gonna get when you don't turn up to defend my claim for charges :)

    Just found this on https://www.barclays.co.uk

There is also a link to a 3 minute video interview with Gary Hoffman, Group Vice Chairman of Barclays (I suppose 'vice' is pretty apt, isnt it?)

"We are aware that the BBC has conducted an undercover investigation in two of our branches and one call centre. We take all allegations of wrongdoing very seriously; however, although we have requested it we have not yet seen the programme.

Although this means that we are not in a position to comment in any detail, the integrity and honesty of our staff is hugely important to us - it is how we do business. We do not condone behaviour that breaks our policies and procedures. Our first action is always to gather the facts, but we take action where these substantiate improper behaviour.

In any organisation as large and complex as Barclays, there is a risk of isolated cases where things go wrong. When that happens our approach is to act fast and learn for the future. Our number one rule is that no customer suffers financial loss as the result of any wrong doing by an employee. We have a zero tolerance attitude towards fraud, mis-selling or abuse of position for personal gain.

We are acutely aware that trust between ourselves and our customers is the bedrock on which we do business. We will do everything necessary to stamp out anything that undermines that trust.

That said, the vast majority of our 130,000 staff work extremely hard, day in and day out and really care about delivering a great service to their customers. "

As theyve only just seen the programme it's too early for a response. Wonder what they are going to say???

I think the problem is that barclays is a big bank and people are in the habit of banking with them. I know lots of people complain about them, but they dont do anything about it

My friend complains about their charges and how crap they are with her all the time, but she is still with them

Anyone know if this is going to be repeated?

If the "Bank Robbery" programme was anything to go by it will be available for streaming/download from the BBC website.
  • I think a few people will be getting the sack tomorrow - they will have to make an example of certain employees won't they. I wonder who trained the trainers?
