PM find out if the £30 is a registration fee or a deposit? I charge my customers a £5 deposit to cover missed appointments.

Also if you are planning on SSing it will be around £48 per week.
I know before I first went on the diet I added up all the food, drink, take outs, snack's etc & for me it worked out cheaper to be on the diet.

You have to remember it will not take oyu long to lose your weight & when you return to conventional eating you will be eating less quantities & less processed (sorry I don't know you but generally that is what I find) & therefore your food bill will decrease.

    Good luck

I'm posting under my partners username as I don't have a MSE account - but how does it cost £48 a week to do sole source on 3 packs a day??? My CDC charges me £35 a week (RRP prices) on sole source - I think £48 is a bit of a rip off!!! Not having a go or anything but that is £13 difference a week which is quite a lot.

The figure mentioned was for a man on four packs per day, not three

However, the CDC's are self-employed and can charge what they like for the products/books/etc and many do charge over £40 per week for three packs per day

  • well according to my scales Ive lost the gain I had as soon as I came off SS. The 1200 plan suits me really well and it must be ok as the scales have dropped 5lbs since Tuesday.

The only thing is Ive just been for my appointment with my counsellor and she was not in! I think she is still on holiday and nobody has bothered to tell us - great! Its a good job we both had a week off the diet or we would have no food packs left - is there not anyone you can ring in this situation to get "emergency packs"? Im lucky I dont need any but it would be helpful to know for the future.

Also hubby is off working away again this aft so he wouldnt even be able to get any from her if she turns up later or tomorrow. Even though we have packs Im a bit peed off and to be honest its just another example of the poor service / advice she gives.

Please please please Linda can you ask the company for some more and better counsellors - I wish they were all like you!!

We ensure all our 'active' clients are aware when we are aware and supply them with enough packs or put them in contact with one of our counsellors who look after them while we are away.

We also leave phone message with alternative contacts or freephone number.

In cases where you cannot get hold of your counsellor if they have not given you a contact you can call the freephone number for the nearest counsellor 0800 161412.

It may be they are a stand alone counsellor without anyone to look after their clients in their absence.

  • You could try ringing another local counsellor to see if you can get some emergency supplies from them.

Unfortunately, as with all things, there are 'counsellors' and there are 'counsellors' - all down to human nature.

Some CDC's don't take their obligations too seriously, although mine have been just great with me.

  • unfortunately Linda mine didnt leave any details at all and I have been far less than impressed with her -every week we get a run down of her ailments and when she asks how we have got on she starts talking about herself before we have got a sentence out. If I hadnt done Lipotrim before and known about VLCDs I would have gone to someone else but just stuck with her as she was the closest and most reasonably priced.

I am however now thinking of switching as hubby has very near to goal weight and so I can go to someone else in the week.

I agree with you Cute n Quirky. Its a shame really because the diet itself and the products are fantastic - counsellors like her really let the side down and Im sure put many people off.

My husband said if he wasnt with me, he wouldnt go at all as he doesnt want to hear her moan for half an hour.

Anyway, enjoy the rest of your sunday everyone and the lovely sunshine

  • Does it not seem unfair how some cdc's can charge whatever they want though??

I did post in this thread a few weeks ago - but just wanted to give a small update.

I'm on my 13th day of sole source now, going well so far. Last week I lost 6.5lb, got my 2nd weigh in tomorrow. I was a little disheartened I hadn't lost more in my 1st week but my CDC explained that it maybe because I have less to loose rather than more.

Getting a bit fed up of soups now but at least tomorrow I can get some bars and mix-a-mousse.
  • The RRP is only a guideline.

It is like a shop buying in goods for £5 each - one shop sells for £6, one for £8.50 and another for £9.99.

    Just one of those things

I have been fortunate that the two I have had both charge the RRP. A friend of mine whom lives 40 miles away from me was quoted £50 for the first week and £42 for subsequent weeks on just 3 packs per day. Needless to say she opted for another CDC.

It is best to shop around and phone/email a few CDC's before making a choice. Of course, sometimes, that is just not possible.

You can contact head office and ask to speak to either Emma or Sarah depending on where you are (each covers a different area) to express your dissatisfaction. New counsellors are starting all the time there could be someone else near you, where abouts are you?
