  • Hi Jennifer

I know how you feel on that course. Before I went self employed I regularly had to go on courses with the most fabulous spreads but I found just being honest with people and explaining you are on CD so you are going to step out for a breath of fresh air worked quite well. Now I am self employed everything I go to has cocktails and canapes - you cant win!

As for caffeine, this is not certain - some studies say it does, some dont - just see how you get on. The studies were (as far as I know) done with people on higher carb levels than CD anyway so its impossible to compare if you are doing SS. Personally I would drop dead without my caffeine!

Ive found a great hot drink is to make a cup of black decaf tea quite weak and add a smidgen of the fruit water powder - it tastes like a fruit tea which are otherwise not allowed on the diet. I love fruit tea so this has been my saviour.

    Good luck!

  • Coffee hasn't affected me at all.

I wouldn't worry about it unnecessarily.

A fruity green tea would be nice - might try that!

I bought some Nettle & Peppermint Tea from Tesco and some Peppermint and Eucalyptus - they are nice!

  • Our need for water varies with our height/weight/exercise/activity level and outside temperature.

On a VLCD we are required to have a minimum of 2.25L of water per day.

Have a look at this Hydration Calculator to see if you are drinking enough water

  • Thought I would share my little mini triumph with you.

As I work at home, I spend my day in comfy stuff - usually trackie bottoms and a t shirt (not Vicky Pollard style though!).

I found this really nice set at Tesco before Xmas. I had to go back yesterday to replace it as both are too big now. My new set has a top a size smaller and bottoms two sizes smaller. Thank god it was only £14 or I would have no money left at this rate!

    Yay!

:j Way to go nomealone! It is a triumph when you can go out and buy new clothes in a smaller size. It makes it all worthwhile doesn't it! I can't wait to go shopping but I still have a long way to go on my CD journey but I know my day will come & I'm really looking forward to it. Enjoy your victory & here's to your further success in the future!:D
  • Mmmm I am nearly 6 sizes down and nothing fits!!!

Shouldn't complain really, since that is why I started the diet in the first place.

Going to bonnie Scotland tomorrow until 11th - so won't be online. That is if it doesn't snow overnight! Going to stay in a log cabin near Loch Ness in the Highlands!

    Be good everyone.

Annie, don't be down, I bet you find that you have a bigger loss next week. In my 2nd week I was gutted when I only lost 1lb as I'd stuck to ss religiously. However the following week I lost 5lbs :D , which meant that over 2 weeks I'd lost 6lbs (which averages out at a 3lb loss per week). Just keep going, our bodies are just not that consistent when it comes to weight loss but it will come right in the end!
  • Well, I went to see my CDC today, she was lovely! And I have got all my packs for the week ahead now. I'll be starting tomorrow, so wish me luck. At 12 stone 10lbs and 3/4, I think I need more of a miracle than luck, but I'll keep you all posted and let you know how my first day goes. I'm a bit worried that I won't let my willpower work it's magic, but I've been looking at this for weeks and have been preparing myself by eating everything possible, and just had to remind myself today that it will only be a few weeks of replacement food before I will be able to go out and eat again - so long as the food I eat is healthy and fits in with CD...

I bought my hand blender and some scales, so I'm all prepared. Tonight is the last supper, so I'm having a 3 course meal at pizza express, then that's it.

    BRING IT ON!
