I know!!
Typical of today's society - how do I get it, how much can I get and when can I have it??
I've never heard of such a load of cobblers!
please don't make such sweeping assumptions. Some people need reminding and encouragement because of their disability and need someone to care for them because of this. Do not judge before you know the facts0 -
i was genuinely interested to know how extra money could help you in this particular case. I'm not against DLA per se
maybe to employ a carer or to buy gadgets to help remind them. i think that kind of thing. Sorry if i sounded a bit snappy but i've had enough of people running DLA down ( i know you weren't ) its a vital benefit thats mega hard to get. But what the OP says about Autism would fit in to this question i suspect0 -

I even read about someone wanting help with a mortgage to move house so they didn't touch their own savings, cobblers isn't it

maybe the fact that they are now on benefits (not enough money to pay their own mortage off (still owing £100K at pension age) is because his wife never worked since the day her children were born. Interesting that they claim DLA
But I do agree with them - It's cobblers to assume that being reminded to eat (alone - no futher info has been given here) is a) reason not to work or b) reason for DLA to given.
I am assuming OP has more reasons than this, or it is ludicrous0 -

It may (as above) or may not.. DLA criteria essentially identifies the most disabled people in day to day living... the assumption is there are extra costs associated with disability. The DLA 'tests' as such are often overanalysed in terms of the money... there isn't a relationship and hence it can seem nonsensical...the tests are merely there the get a grasp of level of day to day disability regarding things we normally take for granted.
On the wider point I can to a fair degree understand this issue of needing reminding to eat and the circumstances of employment. I went down to under 7 stone myself when in my last lengthy employment as I wouldn't eat when at work... whether reminding and encouraging would have made any difference I don't know. I managed to go to 11.5 stone within 18 months of leaving that job because I was at home and stopped smoking... 26" to 34" waist!"Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0 -

To employ someone three times a day to say ok it's time to eat?handlewithcare wrote: »maybe to employ a carer or to buy gadgets to help remind them. i think that kind of thing. Seriously?
I've never heard anything like it in my life!0 -

But is the OP something along those lines?handlewithcare wrote: »Yes seriously , As I explained in my previous post maybe for a person who has dementia or a learning disability or something along those lines0 -
But is the OP something along those lines?
Nobody here is really in a good position to determine that... my guess is probably not in their current circumstances. All we can give is hypothetical example.
It's worth noting that someone who requires prompting, reminding or encouragement to eat regularly is probably very likely to have other DLA related care needs that together could lead to an award of DLA. In real cases it's probably unlikely to be a situation as simple as "To employ someone three times a day to say ok it's time to eat"."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0
