Oh can we claim DLA and inability to work due to being underweight?princessdon wrote: »I suspect they use it as part of the "overall diagnosis" for disability. But work/not work is irrelevant as this isn't a work related benefit.
It's not an out of work benefit - plenty of people work on DLA.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
I am well aware of that Anubis - Hence my I have no idea what the relevance of OP's mentioning of work.
The fact that they were underweight in work and not out of work has no bearning surely. This is about care needs and having more time to eat whilst at home is a universal trait - Hence why SAHM and others gain weight when at home, or on annual leave etc.
I am yet to work out why OP considers this fact relevant to DLA. Care needs around eating have nothing to do with a) weight or b) work.0 -

I see where you are coming from now - it wasn't clear if you thought DLA and not working went hand in hand sorry.
I think the OP has come across the question on the form and then posted here to see if putting a certain answer down was relevant to DLA care (in other words there is more care needed than the eating scenario, but the are unsure what to put for that part.)
Pure conjecture on my part though, I could be wrong!“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
well, because of my dietary problems I would try to bring food in ready made, often failing to get it ready, losing sleep trying, coming late trying.
Eh? So you need a special diet so you'd have to bring your own lunch but you'd turn up at work late with no lunch because you hadn't prepared it and lost sleep as a result of not making a lunch for the next day? That sounds a bit backward to be honest.
And surely if food is on your mind so much when you forgot your lunch (done that a few times myself) you'd go out and grab something from a shop? Yes it's more expensive but I forget my lunch a lot less now because I hated having no money for a week after forgetting my lunch 3 times in a row and having to wheel myself about M&S simply food at lunch time in Glasgow city centre.0 -
Maybe you could look for a part-time job instead, and then just go home at lunchtime. You'd not need to eat anything at all at work then.
The poster has an old thread where he is asking where he can buy a mobile phone at 2am, 3am etc because he frequently loses them, so maybe that's why he would be too tired to think about making a packed lunch in the morning.0 -
I might be being stupid or naive here but why would anyone need to be paid DLA to be reminded to eat? Surely a reminder/alarm or even someone phoning them would be enough, you wouldn't need to be paid to do it would you? Or pay someone to do it?0

I know!!
Typical of today's society - how do I get it, how much can I get and when can I have it??
I've never heard of such a load of cobblers!0 -

The whole pint of the encouragement / reminding part on the DLA forms is for people with mental health problems , learning disabilities or an illness such as dementia so a person needs to be there to CARE for that person to remind them to do things hence the need for this question on the form0 -
i was genuinely interested to know how extra money could help you in this particular case. I'm not against DLA per se0
