Bathtime

Every night for DS (2.5) it's part of the routine. Any tips for getting him in the shower? He won't go near it, would like him to have a rinse after swimming at least. He normally wants to do every thing we do. Hoover, drive the car, chop wood, climb ladders, etc etc.0

I have a one year old son and he gets a bath every day without fail. He loves splashing around in the water!"Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" (Douglas Adams)0

Every other day. Eight year old hops in the shower and sorts herself out. Five year old in the bath with me.
Five year olds hair (tight ringlets) only washed every other bathtime though!
If especially grubby, they go in anyway.0 -

My DD was a bit reluctant so had her start off by just putting shower on and putting hand or a leg underneath it and slowly progressed so whole body going under.
My kids have bath or shower roughly every 2 to 3 days.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

my DS's who are 3 and 5 have a bath or shower every night and have done since birth. yes theres the odd night where we have been out late etc and gone straight to bed but they always ask for their bath before bed as its routine to them. I also shower daily and feel rather 'dirty' without one, even if i havent been doing much. just like to feel nice and clean and refreshed.0

My twins grab a sponge and some shower gel and run out into the garden every time it rains... at the moment they're having about 4 showers a day...!

This is what I always did with our 3 - figured if they never knew any different, bath/shower everyday they wouldn't baulk about washing when they got older and it worked. Listen to people at work complaining that their kids' personal hygiene isn't great, well that's why I got them in a routine straight away - no grungy teenagers in this house thanks.
Also I have OCD tendencies about cleanliness and it made me anxious if they weren't washed and brushed every day and had clean clothes/pyjamas.
I went about 20 hours without a shower when we went abroad last year and I felt revolting, it was the first thing I did when we got to our hotel.Over futile odds

6&7 and about 3 times a week. Sometimes DD slightly more, as she has long hair and if it gets full of food/really tangled etc its actually far less grief to wash her hair and brush conditioner through it when wet than to try and drag the brush through dry tangled/matted hair. Obviously we bath them more if they've been doing something particularly mucky like making mud pies or painting etc.
Both of them were bathed daily as part of the "routine" when they were tiny babies, but that dropped of by about 1yr.
I really don't see the need for children (or indeed adults) to be bathed/showered every single day. I only have a bath/shower every 2nd-3rd day and I don't smell! (I do wear deodorant/wash "round the houses" daily etc and generally keep myself clean, but I only feel the need for a full bath or shower 2-3 times a week)0 -

My Mum only showers every other day as she has such dry skin. She does have a "round the houses" wash everyday though. I don't feel right unless I shower in the morning, even if I've showered and washed my hair the night before.I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."
