Full Cash Refund

FWIW I just thought I would let all those who beat up on me last night and got my thread deleted by pressing the spam button, that I phoned Argos this morning and the manager agreed to give my friend a full cash refund after visiting the store with some ID.

So there you have it. Thanks for making a new member feel totally unwelcome. Now that this has been resolved on my part I will not be visiting again.

Don't let a few people put you off returning to these forums.(and it is only a few posters out of very many.)

Generally you will get fairly good advice and reasonable opinions, but as with any public forum, there will always be a few "keyboard warriors" whose only aim in life isto try to belittle other people in order to make themselves appear or feel superior.

Generally the tone / helpfulness of the responses on here can be directly linked to how entertaining that morning's Jeremy Kyle has been.

Glad you got sorted anyway :)

Yes, that can be the case.

It is also often the case that responses change when the OP decides he/she doesn't like the replies being given and starts throwing abuse around.
However, we now have no way of knowing whether that happened last night.

I can tell you last night that while I didn't participate with Scooter Lady's convo thread, I can tell you the first people posted useful advice and SL essentially acted rudely and only wanted and listened to the answers given that she agreed with, I'm still unsure if she was a actual troll....

Anyway the thread needed to get deleted and SL brought the wrath of MSE's users bad side on her self.

If you don't visit again that's fine, nothing major lost.

I thought it was going to be a bank transfer into your account? Did Argos really have £1400 in the till to give you this morning?

Never goes well to to be selective about the advice you will take. A usual retort is "if you haven't got anything nice/useful to say, don't post on my thread" which is fairly certain to set the house into uproar - particularly if it is not justified.

    Good result op.

Does anybody know why the thread was deleted? Although it did seem to get a little out of control, I have seen much worse around here which haven't been removed! Unless there was some last minute twists to it all?

Up until about 7pm. (I think that there were about 8 or 9 posts at that point).
  • Yes, I have come back because I am not into people making others feel down. I was. It rude at all. I asked if some one could not spout opinions as they are of no use what so ever. if I remember rightly the guy stated that it was hardly the shops fault that my friend did not have his receipt. I agree but receipt or not Argos had still broken their contract. I came on this forum to find out exactly what laws they had broken and how I could use them to help get my friend a refund. What I got instead was a lot of people saying that basically it was my friends fault for losing his receipt and we should put up with taking a cheque. I said that waiting for a cheque to clear was not an option And people could not understand this. I was abused last night for no reason and yes I did not like some of the answers but that was because they were nothing to do with helping the matter whatsoever. People were making rude assumptions. Saying I had an attitude problem and one person even went as far as saying I needed help from a doctor. All this was get hurtful.

Just to clear this up for any users in the future who may run into problems with Argos because what I have found on the Internet their delivery service is shocking. I called Argos direct this morning And spoke directly to the
Manager. Informed him that they had broken their side of the contract and quoted some legislation. I also informed him thatmy friend suffers with mental health issues. He appoligised on behalf of the company for the destress caused and agreed to a cash refund. I explained that the receipt had even lost and he said that as long as my friend took in Id that all would be okay. He said that he would phone the local store and let them know we would be coming. I took his name and thanked him. We went into the store a couple of hours later and was given the refund straight away.

We then went to a local Indian store and got what he needed. luckly for him they delivered the goods straight away. Tonight he is finally sitting in comfort after a very stressful six weeks. I am stating all this as hopefully others may learn from this and know that just because you do not have a receipt is the shop has broken the contract by failing to deliver in a reasonable time you are entitled to be paid back with the same method you paid for the goods. It was Argos in the wrong. Not my friend or I.
