And next in the news, "Do not drive through speed cameras in excess of the speed limit, else risk being fined and receiving penalty points on your licence..." ;-)0

Why is this not in the news? Where did you hear about this?0 -
Pepipoo is going to be busy.
Who is the official Private Parking Company of the London© 2012© Olympics©?The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

It sets a terrible precedent.
Next it'll be dedicated lanes for buses that you won't be able to use for queue jumping?
Where will it end and won't someone think of the children????
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Will apparatchiks being whisked down the Zil lanes be trained to wave to the serfs (proletariat) in an aloof regal or limp wristed manner?0

By what regulation or statute do they enforce this rubbish? I'm pretty sure that road marking is not in the highway code.
Have this private company that have been given the ability to designate who can use part of the road network purchased these publicly funded roads?0 -

Sadly, there have been various acts of parliament passed to enable much of the present Olympic authoritarianism. All the obsessive "brand enforcement", for example - there's an act making it a criminal offence rather than ordinary civil copyright infringement. And around the sailing venue in Weymouth they've grabbed a huge chunk of sea (which under ordinary law is free for anybody to use) and placed it under the control of the olympic authorities with the right to prohibit otherwise-lawful navigation - again all done by a special act of parliament.
So yes, however distasteful, I'm sure this stuff will be legal

This annoys me intensely. If I was travelling to the olympics and saw a sign saying "Olympic traffic only" I'd assume I could use the lane, and then get a £130 fine.
Road markings that don't comply with the highway code and aren't listed here: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2002/3113/contents/made aren't supposed to be enforceable, was my understanding.
The whole olympic thing was always going to be a colossal waste of money, I guess we know now how the plan to recoup that is going to work.0 -
Lets hope they have not taken away the rights of disabled drivers too.0

I'm intrigued as to how it will actually be enforced. OK - the official cars have Olympic livery - will anyone try and make a bootleg set if they already have a BMW? Or if they are using ANPR - clone a set of plates from an official car?I need to think of something new here...0
