If you actually read the posts you would have seen that the OP has been answered.

Um ... not really. The OP asked how he could get his money back. I don't see that much of the original response was much use on that front. Basically, it revolved around him paying up £100 for a dispute that has nothing to do with him - I don't know about you, but I wouldn't class that as getting my money back!

errr no. one poster suggested calling PayPal. Others have asked additional questions to the OP. Who told the OP to pay for his brother's dispute? I can't find that post.

OK let's get back to original post and sort one mess out at a time.

Ask the car seller to refund money to your account and then pay him his deposit by aother means. Then at least he is off your back.

Then take up the cudgels with PayPal.

Hmm, well perhaps if you would read the original post you might see that the OP states that they have already called Paypal.

You suggested getting the brother to pay out £100 for his dispute. The OP already stated that the brother is not willing to pay up the disputed amount on his account, so where else is the money going to come from?

Furthermore, it is nothing to do with the OP's transaction - there's no reason why the OP should do anything about that situation.

Well, in that case OP is stuffed - paypal won't help without bro's situation being resolved, and bro won't resolve his situation. Probably the bets idea so far is Hintza's advice - although I can't see the seller being ecstatic about refunding whilst the funds are being help by paypal! I don't quite see what's going to stop pp holding them.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

I didn't say the OP should pay the £100!!! If perhaps he talks to his brother and explains how it has affected him he might just pay up now.

I'm in agreement with you. It seems totally wrong that PayPal are punishing someone who isn't involved in the dispute.

Again, I suggest taking Paypal to the small claims court. There's absolutely no legal leg for them to stand on for attempting to recover a disputed amount on one person's account from that of another person.

If you made the Paypal payment from a credit card, call the credit card company and ask them to do a chargeback to recover your money - because Paypal have effectively stolen it.

    Hi all.
Well just got in from work and all these replies, thanks.
Just to clear up that paypal don;t know he is my brother, it is all to do with our details being similar, apparently because of this , our accounts are " linked". I am disgusted fuming and want to knock someone out!
Anyway, I emailed paypal this afternoon explaining that the account has nothing to do with me, I also threatened them with legal action, belowis the reply I have just received.

    Dear paul taylor,

We're sorry, but your account access limitation cannot be lifted at this
time. We need more information about your account before we can restore
full access to your account. Please complete the steps below so that we may
    review your account further:

    - Based on a review of your account and the information received, we show
that you have or are related to multiple accounts that have unresolved
issues. Before we can lift the limited access on your account, you will
need to resolve all outstanding issues with these linked accounts,
including bringing any negative balances to zero and resolving all
complaints for all linked accounts. The domain names for these accounts are:
    @btinternet.com

We do apologize for any confusion you may have experienced. Due to our
Privacy Policy, we are only allowed to provide you with the domain name of
the account to which you are linked. PayPal has determined that your
account shares similar characteristics, including shared account profile
    information.

This includes (but is not limited to) last name, email, financial
information, phone number, and address information.

    Yours sincerely,
    Dan

So basically they are saying unless the dispute in a similar account to mine is resolved, then I lose my money. Would you agree?
