Thank you everyone for all the advice on veggie growing. I've ordered one of the Linkabord two tier raised beds which will give me a couple of square metres of growing space. I thought I'd be better off starting small to begin with then I can always get more later. I have some seeds already so will give those a go first before buying anything else. Fortunately, most of the seeds are for the veggies you've suggested :T
What a glorious bank holiday weekend it was. Mr F and I bought a book several years ago of 40 circular pub walks in Kent. We are always saying we should do them so made a start yesterday in Pluckley. First, a lovely pub lunch (2 courses each and a drink for £28.80) then a 6 mile stroll through apple orchards, bluebell woods, church ruins, flowering fields of rape and country lanes. It was wonderful. We intend to work our way through all the walks - and all the pubs :rotfl:We went over to some friends after for chocolate cake and Prosecco in the garden
MS activity:- not a lot spent over the bank holiday
- did a day in the office today. Apparently I've had a 1% pay rise - a whole 8p per hour extra :rotfl:
- took a packed lunch to work
- Mr F is away tonight so pasta and sauce for supper made from whatever needed using up in the fridge
Hope you all enjoyed the break

...is how things have felt this week. I was ridiculously fed up about the unexpected bills that came in. 'Ridiculously' because we accommodated them all and I still managed to put £83.15 into the savings. But with not much being OP'd either it just felt as though I was treading water and not making much progress. And I know exactly what to do about that - less lillies, more fleabay and a little appreciation of the fortunate position we are in. A short break from my diary and a read of http://agirlcalledjack.com/2012/07/30/hunger-hurts/ put things into perspective again.
Pear shaped very aptly describes my dieting efforts this week too (and my slightly more curvy than usual physique). Only a few weeks before our holiday now so I'm climbing back on that horse this very minute.
Our Wild West dinner party went very well and our guests have decided to continue with the themed idea. The next dinner is Pirates .
Some extra admin work has come my way today and I'm only 50 points away from my very first Y0uG0v payout :T
Life is good and I'll not be forgetting that again anytime soon.

Absolutely does Beanie - have been counting my blessings ever since reading.brizzledfw wrote: »yes..very powerful blog and to my delight (and what a delicious irony!) she has just won the Judges award at the Fortnum & Mason's Food Awards

Just read the latest - really pleased she won. Lovely to hear when someone's luck changes.
It may have been me Brizz although I'm very much a Waitr0$3 girl these days. Free delivery, no extra cost for substitutions and free stuff most weeks. Think I'm due for some vouchers soon too :T

Mr F went off to Italy for a couple of days this morning. An unexpected work trip. Given the tempestuous weather here last night I was very jealous. However, he's just 'phoned and told me it's just as bad there :rotfl:
Despite having lots of things on my to do list I've had a lazy day. I never really have a day off when Mr F is home as I always have meals to cook, washing up to do, not to mention the following him around the house closing drawers and doors (the man was born in a barn). So I bunked off after I saw him off this morning.
I did get to Zumba though and I braved the cold and wind to give the new Pyracantha hedge a serious pruning - it may have Fire Blight  Nothing else to report on the MS front although it has been an NSD.
Today's shortcuts to happiness - a long soak in a hot bubble bath in the middle of the afternoon and a super king size bed all to myself tonight. Might go to bed right now just to make the most of it
Hope your week is going well

One of our friends has a birthday today and across-the-lane-neighbour is hosting a Eurovision Party for her. We are all contributing to the food - I've made Honey & Mustard Chipolatas on Rosemary Skewers, Rice & Bean Salad and Rhubarb Crumble Muffins (to use up some of our never ending rhubarb crop). We'll also be taking a bottle of wine from the rack and beer left over from our Wild West dinner. So a low cost social which is good as we're trying to keep any spare cash for the approaching holiday spends.
MS wise; Waitr0$£ substituted 500g of grapes for the 200g I'd ordered :T and a couple of small Tillytidies have been made. I also discovered about 5 Euros left over from a previous holiday and have just 25 points left before pay out on Y0uG0v. Leftover Spanish Fish Stew planned for lunch.
Mr F got a letter from HMRC today saying it's time to complete his tax return. So another round of miscalculation approaches. I've very savvy about his tax now though so it's only a temporary inconvenience these days.
A week of admin work and holiday preparations to come but, for now, I am dedicating myself to cheering on Bonnie :rotfl:
Have a fun weekend all
