I didn't manage any painting yesterday but I did break the back of the housework. Including the guestroom which is sparkling clean with fresh linen on the bed. I left some books and DVDs in the room I think my visitor will like. And also opened some new fragrance diffusers I'd bought in the Laura Ashl£y sale so everywhere smells nice. I've got a couple of days out in mind if we feel like it and some good, healthy meals planned.
I don't know if any of this will help but I'd like her to feel looked after and a bit spoilt.
Today I have:- been to Step - important for weight loss/fitness and keeping my mood up:)
- stopped off in the village to do a couple of chores
- had leftover Cheesy Leek & Bacon Pasta for lunch
- cleaned the bathroom and kitchen floors
- taken delivery of the new Fr££$at recorder :j
I'm planning Ham & Cabbage Hash for supper to use up half a sulky cabbage. One portion for me and the rest for breakfast in the week.
Hopefully I'll be able to set up the recorder this evening without Mr F's help as he's still away gallivanting.
Doesn't the sunshine make a difference - it's beautiful here today in the Garden of England.

Didn't get any painting done after all. Decided I'd call the breakdown provider whilst the floors were drying and the call took much longer than expected. By the time the call ended I'd lost the light!
The breakdown provider quoted me £136.31 for Roadside and Relay and it's Gold Membership so I get a few extras thrown in. I've been a member with them for 8 years and never had to use the service as Mr F keeps my truck very well maintained. I think this is way too much money to cover what, for me, is a very small risk. Anyhow, after some discussion, they are prepared to drop the price to £80. Is this good value? I've been paying around £60 for the last 2 years.
I set up the new Fr33$at Box. It was really straightforward. However, it told me that there was a weak/no satellite signal so it is the dish at fault after all. I have been recommended an installer so will give them a call to come and sort it out. Our Fr33view aerial is also at a very jaunty angle having weathered many stormy winters so they can sort that out at the same time and fix a satellite cable in the guest room too. All things on the home improvement list but now a higher priority.
Having lost the light, I decided to use the rest of the evening to do everything else in the house needed before my guest arrives leaving me most of today to relax and concentrate on painting.
Which is where I'm off to now...
Have a great day all

FS, how about Green Flag? They seem to get really good reviews.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Hi Fortune
Have you done a comparison check on the breakdown cover? To me it does seem quite high, especially as you've been paying around £60 for a while. I don't know what car you drive or the extras you've opted for but it's worth a look. Also, if the risk is minimal do you think you need all those extras?
I'm with Green Flag but never have to use them so can't comment on them. Unfortunately my car insurance renewal came as I was in the middle of a very stressful time & so I didn't pay much attention to it. When I eventually checked it had gone up twice as much and had GF cover added. Not happy at all, especially as I already have cover through those very nice men elsewhere. However, nothing I can do about it. The point of that story is to make sure that you read everything and do it in the right time so you're not out of pocket.
Have a great dayxx

Hello everyone and thank you for your advice on the breakdown cover. Mr F may have found a solution as, whilst he was sorting his car insurance out, he asked for me too and found some cover that includes full RAC for £25 :j I'll definitely be looking into that.
I am pleased to say my mojo has returned :T I am sad to say that my random mojo losses are probably due to being a woman of a certain age
Family member visit went well and she seemed to perk up whilst she was here. We also had an impromptu drinks party on Saturday with neighbours. Surprisingly, I managed to stay within budget despite all this socialising.
Mr F is away all this week again - sigh. However, I have plenty to keep me busy this week. I'm helping with some CV writing this morning for mums who want to return to work. I also want to get as much painting in as possible this week.
Hope your week's off to a good start.

3 mums, coffee, cake and gossip does not make for an easy CV writing session - it was like herding cats! Managed to complete a full CV for one mum and send it in with a job application - they have a first interview tomorrow!
Got some painting done in the afternoon.
So my halo is shining....
...well, in places. I ate from the fridge a la Bridget Jones for supper...
...and, I didn't go to Zumba this morning...
....and, I'm up really late this morning
Best get going

Mr F is home this week :j It's made such a difference and we slipped back into our usual routine very quickly:
- I've been very disciplined about going to the gym and am determined to keep up with exercise. Not only to improve my fitness but also to make the most of the membership costs
- meal planning this week has been about using up the fridge contents - including the purple potatoes that came in my veg box
- the cat painting is progressing well and I'm close to finishing. It has taken a lot longer than the cars though so I'm going to have to think about pricing for pet portraits
- spending has been within budget.
In other news - we have a badger! Mr F is trying out a camera app on his 'phone and has captured the critter on our drive a couple of times. I think he is coming to eat the rhubarb
I know a number of forumites are struggling with illness at the moment. Take care of yourselves now and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
