In some ways it was easier when they were little.

Dear Fortune,
I have read about 60% of your diary over the last month or so. Bookmarked pages & everything. Then my laptop died and Im ashamed to admit I skipped the rest. Sorry. It did keep me engrossed while I was going page to page though.
A quick note about your OH & his children. I have been in the same position as them for the last ten years, buying two sets of cards each mothers/fathers, birth and christmas days of which there are never many to choose from. It is never easy for the children to see their parents apart/with other people, over time that should change though. Depending on how long you have been together and how they relate to you. I admit, I often needed a prompt or had a last minute dash to the shop for a card. I do think they should send cards or call, it isnt very time consuming to plan ahead.
That aside, your ethos for this diary has been inspirational, especially on the cooking thing. I actually wish I had a blender to make soups with left overs.
The art work is superb! I have always wanted an MGB roadster. I had a look on Folksy but couldn't see it for sale. [STRIKE]Please PM me with a link to it if you can?[/STRIKE] Found it.Sealed Pot Challenge:

Thank you LauraJo. You're right - they are grown ups and should start behaving like they are...They're probably not speaking to you yet because they know that you were right and they have no excuse for their behaviour xx

... and no defence.
A present has arrived from DS1 this morning and it is very thoughtful. Just a little late.

Hi there Struggling Youth and thank you for popping in. Can't believe you've read so much of my diary - it's a shame they don't issue MSE medals for diary endurance because I'm sure you deserve one.
Thank you also for giving me a different perspective on the Father's Day issue. Mr F and I have been together for 11 years now and I've always had a good relationship with the DSSs. They don't do Mother's Day for me and I wouldn't expect them too. And as a step mum I expect just the courtesy and consideration you might give a friend. But Mr F is their dad and it makes me angry when they are thoughtless or inconsiderate where he is concerned. He usually potters about the garden and garage if we are at home on a Sunday. On Father's Day he settled himself in his armchair, the 'phone on the arm and waited all morning for the calls that never came. Broke my heart to see him.
On the soup front, I just use one of those little hand held blender things and whiz the soup up in the saucepan. It usually stretches further that way as it ends up a bit thick and needs more stock.
Thank you for your kind comments about my art. The MGB is proving very popular so I'm going to offer it as a limited edition print soon. Shame I don't get to drive the cars I paint - maybe I should make that part of the price :rotfl:

I'd intended to clean the kitchen today but other stuff got in the way
:
- went to Zumba this morning and thoroughly enjoyed it. I really want to get back into my gym routine. I'm stronger and more toned since I've been going to the gym so I don't want to get out of the habit
- popped in to see Across-the-Lane-Neighbour for a coffee and sort out some social plans
- sticking to the diet, although I've not much to show for it yet
- signed the MGB painting and print which are going to be delivered to the customer tomorrow. I want to list the prints in my Folk$y shop but thought I should wait until I'd delivered the original
- had to drop everything and spend the afternoon doing admin work  Someone else's lack of planning becoming my emergency. All sorted now though and a few more hours claimed. It's my last meeting next week and I'm soooo looking forward to it
- Mr F is away so I'm living on leftovers. All home-cooked, healthy ones though :A
Happy hump day

Il await my medal in the post.
Il keep an eye out for the MGB prints. I need something to go in my lounge, it would inspire me to keep working hard, as its a car I will own one day, how soon, depends on mostly my work ethic and a bit of luck I guess. May even start my own diary as a journey to that & a mortgage deposit.Sealed Pot Challenge:
