  • I was just downloading some pictures so that I could put the Project on Fleabay tonight when I got a text from my builder saying he was interested in it. He's coming round tomorrow to have a look. Fingers crossed he'll take it - we could offset it against the money we're still holding for him.
    • not an NSD. There were some things I couldn't get from Waitr0$£ this week as they weren't in stock so I had to pop into the C0-0p. I'm afraid a bar of white crispie chocolate jumped into my shopping bag whilst I was there :o
    • picked up Mr F's dry cleaning whilst in the market town. They don't really wear jackets at his new job so I'm only having to get the trousers done - have I taken it too far only getting half his suits cleaned?:rotfl:
    • cashed the postal order for the latest Fleabay sale and posted it off - first time I've every received a postal order

Oooh - Friday tomorrow. Mr F is coming home and I'm off out for drinks with the girls.

Years ago DS and DD sold some of their Nat West piggies. One went to a guy who paid part by paypal and part by PO - he had broken his and his wife wouldn't let him pay more than £5 to replace it, hence the subterfuge :rotfl:.

  • Hi Fortune,

What a wonderful attitude to life you have! I totally agree about the importance of balance on our journey through life. Your diary reminds me a bit of Thoreau's life at Walden Pond.

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. (Walden, 90)

I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life... (Walden, 91)"

Best wishes on the rest of your enjoyable journey xx.

I'm not a great gardener NewLeaf - a novice experimenter maybe. One year I managed to grow courgettes with bulges due to my erratic watering :rotfl:

Thank you Rainbow - what a lovely thing to say. I think it's better to lose count while naming your blessings than to lose your blessings while counting your troubles (as someone very wise once said). Keep glowing.

  • Mr F has put the log store together and it is filled to the brim with logs :T Our farmer neighbour felled some trees a little while ago and said that, if we cut them and moved them ourselves, we could have the logs for £20 a trailer full. Mr F and a friend have been chopping and stacking all afternoon. Both the log store and the trailer are full now and, if that doesn't see us through the winter, we can always get some more as there is loads left. So...
    • £60 saved on logs
    • my builder does want the Project. We were going to put it on Fleabay for £200 but I said he could have it for £160 as it saves us the hassle and fees
    • £10 spent on the girls night out last night - that was kitty money for the wine and I didn't have to drive  It was lovely catching up. Most of my local friends have school age children so I don't see much of them during the holdays when things get very busy for them.
    • buyer finally turned up to collect the ladder :rotfl:
    • a quick fish cake and chips supper planned for tonight from the meal plan
    • ginger is defrosting ready to make pink ginger cordial
Pay day this week for both of us (that's if my claim goes in this time). May splash out and go out for Sunday lunch tomorrow.

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend. We've had a lovely sunny day but it's definately not as warm. Think the logs may be very timely.

This is the one I usually use and, yes, very glad to see the back of it. I'm sure Mr F will commit another faux pas before too long though. :rotfl:

  • Thought we should try out some of our logs just to make sure they work :rotfl:They do - a treat! We are sitting in front of the blazing log burner cozied up against the wet, grey, miserable day. Alcohol my be consumed shortly just to complete the picture. We think the logs might be Alder and there seem to be mixed views on how good they are for burning. Ours are burning long and hot so we're confident of a warm winter :T

It's turning into a very lazy Sunday but a few MS bits to report:
    • Mr F tiled the roof of the log store - not essential but will help to keep the log store in good order and the logs dry
    • he also drilled some holes in the plastic bin where I keep the chickens' bedding. I use chopped hemp and have noticed it getting a bit damp with condensation over the summer. I thought some ventilation holes might resolve the problem and save me the cost of buying a new store
    • pink ginger cordial is steeping in the fridge
    • we had a store cupboard lunch of Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese Bagels with Capers
    • Lentil Chilli from the freezer planned for dinner later
We decided not to go out for lunch today after all. Partly because the weather is so pants we don't fancy going out in it but also because we were invited back to friends for drinks last night so feel as though we've had our social fix for the weekend. We took a bottle of (Avi0$) wine, some eggs and some Rosehip Syrup as a thank you for the help with the log chopping. Mr F had been out with them in the morning yesterday as they were thinking about buying a Land R0v£r and wanted him to give it the once over. I don't think it was an equitable exchange for several hours log chopping though so hopefully the gifts helped to redress the balance :rotfl:

I need to pin Mr F down to ordering some more Avi0$ wine later and sorting out some social dates but I think a short nap in front of the log burner might be in order first :rotfl:

Enjoy what's left of the weekend.
