I have to admit to feeling decidedly second-hand this morning. We went out with friends to a comedy night at the local rugby club last night. It was brilliant! But I drank a bit too much :o I'm hoping if I pretend I'm awake I can fool myself into feeling better.
    • finished the Land Rover sketch and put it on FB to get some feedback. A friend of a friend saw it and has commissioned me to paint her husband's new classic car :j We've negotiated a fee of £50 and I can use the painting to sell prints and cards in my shop if I want to
    • managed to get a load of washing dry on the line
    • hours of admin work
    • I don't know what happened with my menu planning yesterday as I made this for lunch and this for supper - chorizo overload!
Hooray! I've managed to find a way of doing clickies again.

We are out at a friend's Eurovision party tonight so I'm busy cooking up a contribution. Can't see me having a drink though... famous last words?

Hope you're having a fun weekend

It has turned out to be a very busy weekend - in a good way:
    • new bed and mattress arrived
    • made Stilton & Poppy Seed Sables, Cheese & Chutney Pastry Whirls and a Rhubarb Fool Trifle to take to the Eurovision Party. (So that's what happened to the rhubarb from the garden Greying ;)) We also took a bottle of white and a bottle of red from the wine rack. Mr F drank all of the red:eek: and I only had one glass of white :A. Much fun was had
    • a little more painting this morning
    • helped Mr F put the new bed together. It looks fabulous and the Laura A$hl£y bed linen is a perfect match :D. Because it's a small double rather than a single I need to have a rethink about a couple of things - the dressing table chair will need replacing with a stool and the cheval mirror will need replacing with a wall hanging mirror. It's going to look great when it's finished though
    • Mr F put a new battery in my car. It's been on it's way out for a while and I left the lights on all night last week :o and that was the end of it
    • Salmon with Greens & Crème Fraiche from the meal plan for supper served up with some mashed potato
Mr F has managed to cut up the old single divan and get it all in the wheelie bin  He may have used a hammer  I hope the bin men can (and will) empty it tomorrow. The old mattress is currently in the garage and will be going to the tip soon.

Hope you've all had a great weekend

    A productive Monday:
    • went to Step
    • a little more painting on the Land Rover
    • two loads of washing dried on the line
    • some admin work
    • Sausage & Mash with Thyme Gravy and peas for supper. Not from the meal plan - the admin work interrupted the evening's plans so I had to substitute a quicker option if we were going to eat before 9 pm!
    • made 2 important decisions
Decision 1. I will not be buying a new tumble dryer with next month's house money. We have already had to buy a new battery for my car, Mr F needs a new ladder to clear the weeds we can see growing in the gutters and I'd like to finish off the small bedroom. So those things will take priority.

Decision 2. I will be handing in my notice on the admin job at the end of July. The job is becoming increasingly frustrating and time consuming. It's only supposed to be a little pin money but is causing more stress than it's worth. I also worked out how much I got paid for it over the last 12 months and it's significantly less than I thought! Between now and July I should be able to complete any outstanding projects I have and bolster my personal spend account to a comfortable level so I have a buffer going forward.

So that's that. It was only when I worked out what I'd earn't (or rather hadn't) that I came to this conclusion. It's just not worth it for the money.

Watching the weather forecast this morning - sunny days are coming :j

  • Morning Fortune, any more thoughts about a range of greeting cards - I think Greying made the suggestion from memory. I was in JL over the weekend choosing a card for a chum and I can't say the ranges were massively inspiring. Being able to buy cards with your prints would be interesting to many, I'm sure.

    Job decision sounds sensible :)

I haven't seen the weather forecast - off to check now.

I agree with the others (or, as Mr GG would write, I concur. DK why that just popped into my head :rotfl:).
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Re. making your own cards, it sounds like a good idea, but you need to have a good range of channels for selling them. Mrs E has a friend who sells cards, paper goods, pretty covered notebooks etc. and I think it's below pin money. That said, she pretty much just flogs them to pals through Facebook. If you decide to use eB@y, Am@zon, Et.sy etc. remember to allow for fees :)

Bet it feels like a relief deciding to give up in July.
I'm sure you could make more money with your creative talents anyway...

I imagine it would be a great relief to give up in July and put the time spent on that into making some money from creative efforts. look forward to seeing what unfolds.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Hi Tilly. I have looked into greetings cards and will definitely be doing some. My printers gave me a recommendation for a good quality, on-line company which looks good. They do batches of 25 (either all the same design or you can have a variety of designs). I'm going to get together a few designs so I can have 5 of each which seems a good way to test whether they will sell.

I'm intending to start with some cars. They seem to be the subject I'm best at and I'm working on a Series 1 Land Rover at the moment and will have the MG Roadster to start soon. I also have in mind a series of dogs too - but I'm getting ahead of myself. It's all just soooo exciting :j
