We run a B&B and bought a Dualit toaster from John Lewis last December. It is the best thing we have bought and essential for our business!!

I picked mine up at a boot fair. The sellers were emigrating to Australia and selling everything off. My three slice Dualit with sandwich cages ...just £6!

I too have been dithering over a Dualit for many years - previously had a Dualit Lite (made in China) which looked beautiful but stopped working after only 7 months! I got a refund and replaced that with a £15 supermarket model which I loathe but have now just ordered the 4 slice chrome version - hope it lives up to the hype (and lasts longer than the Lite version) Thanks.

It looks very similar to the one I got from either lidl or aldi about 10 years ago for about £20, which also had the 2/4 button. It's just went bang yesterday and having a look around it will be getting replaced with a £10 out of tesco

Does it cook one side of a slice more than the other if you've only got a single slice in, like most toasters?

The Dualit website shows both the Vario and the NewGen available. The only difference with the NewGen seems to be the addition of a defrost and bagel setting. I can't quite see the advantage of those anyway to be honest.
