Looking into these 2, Samsung s3 or Iphone 4-5 ?
main use will be for calling, basic net browsing, texting, not too much new usage.

Has anybody had an iphone, and also a samsung galaxy phone too?

What are the main differences [besides one is apple software, and one is android]

What are other comparisons between them?

have you used both the Iphone and Samsung galaxy?
as some people have tested and had both in their time

What did you find between them both, which did you prefer and why ?

any other advice appreciated.

I had both, both very capable handsets.

Although the iPhone 4s is more comparable to the SGS2.
The SGS3, is the next step.

I prefer the larger screen for net browsing and film watching, as well as the window in window viewing.

If you wonder what happened to my iPhone, I swapped it for a Peugeot 406.

I don't know who got the worst of the deal :o
What about all the android malware that we keep reading about from our resident iDiot?
I read about it, not through choice but know no one that has been affected by it.

I deal with approx 40-50 customers in the mobile industry a day, and I have only come across 1 in my 2.5 years, and even that fellow I think it was their son texting premium rate numbers.

Having said that, I still have Avast Free on my android, as it is free and uses little battery power.

To me, it is not even a comparison. S3 beats it in every category.

I would go as far to say, the iPhone 5 will be a clone of the SGS3.

so would it be worth waiting for that? or would havng IP5 limit me, as android is open sourced, where as iphone is just apple?

what would you suggest? and why? /reasons

Main reason not to get an iPhone, you never stop paying for it, ie apps, music, etc

    But to be logical

    SGS3
Simultaneous HD video and image recording
    Non Restrictive Video Calling (Facetime)
5 times the processing power of the 4s
    Expandable hot swappable memory
    Free 50GB drop box storage
    NFC Support
    Smart Eye, (Gimmicky)
    S-Voice (Better than Siri)
Document Viewer, HTML (Proper, not safari), Flash, Java.
(Don't look like a 14 year old girl walking down the street with your white headphones)

The main pro for iPhone is you can root the phone and put Android on it.

When Android fanboys are writing the post this kind of response are expected.

If you are looking to get S3 or iPhone 4s or 5 if I was you I will wait until the iPhone 5 is released around Oct. In the mean while play with the s3 and 4s see which one you like.

    Android & S3
Check the size some love it other find it too big.
The app store are limited. Many apps on Android 4.0 do not work such as sky go.
No flash support on Android 4.0 or above, older version may or may not work.
The os update is harder to get. May need to root or hack your phone or wait months for new os version.

Malware is a problem. In 3 months over 700,0000 people have downloaded malware apps just from Google Play. Regardless of what others say search for Android Malware. The google Play who should be checking the apps is taking far too long to remove

    http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/news/mobile-phone/3369330/security-researchers-find-multistage-android-malware-on-google-play/

However with bit of knowledge it is possible to reduce the risk for example if weather app or game ask for access to make calls or send text messages ask yourself why? Do weather app or game need to make calls and send text messages? Use Amazon App Store (soon) which pre check apps.

It is open source to the point of 3rd party can insert skin on the top.
The hacking or rooting easy to do

    iPhone 4s or 5
Some prefer iPhone size to S3
The os update are easy to receive without wait or hack.
Malware problem is less. I think one in 5 years or something like that. This is mainly due to like Amazon App Store on Android all apps are pre checked.
The apps are design to work with iPhone so nearly all apps work including tv on demand without problem.
Due to way iPhone work it is not possible to add 3rd party skin on the top of iOS.
    Easy to use

Both, s3 and iPhone 4s/5 have Siri (voice), built in SatNav, MSN, Skype, what's app and other video calling apps.

The ios is made for iPhones only so it need less power then Android which works on 100's of phones many with different memory, screen size, power etc.

Write down what apps you will need such as games, tomtom or any other satnav, tv on demend etc. and any function you may require. Check to make sure your device can do them.

The help from open forum is always limited. All android or iPhone users will go on about their system is the best. Most may not even have used the other os but will be happy to make the comment.

I would not take the action just based on the information here, do your own research as well, if you know someone with Android or iPhone talk to them and read online reviews from CNET and others.

Buy what your heart is telling you not what others think you should have.
You will be using the phone for two years not others

You can get an s3 for under £25 a month from mobiles.co,uk. An iPhone 5 will be a minimum of £45 a month for 24 months. You'll grow to resent it. I have had both and will never go near an iPhone again. The s3 is cheaper, much bigger screen and more customisable. It has removable battery, you can add more memory with a sd card. It's lightning fast, much faster then my iPad.

Just marked thegoodmans post as spam. It's grossly over biast. For example, there is no flash support at all on iPhone, but you make it a disadvantage for an android but fail to mention it on the iPhone section
