Gosh what a lovely chatty thread, thank you for all the welcomes  yep it's my first!

Congratulations LadyMorticia, looking forward to reading your story.

For people talking about mucus plug (TMI), I had a few days end of last week when it looked like it was coming out, but consultant said not to worry as labour can either take place that day... or a few weeks afterwards. This baby thing never seems easy to predict :rotfl:

It's funny listening to the news this morning, it's all about Kate and her being preggers!

Awful night's sleep, up every hour and a half to pee :-( I have excessive amniotic fluid (polyhydramnios) and feel huge - again! Normally you have about 1 litre and two weeks ago I ended up in hospital with early labour, they drained off 2.7 litres  but I think it's all come back again. At least it stopped labour so more cooking could take place :p.

That, combined with pelvic pain (SPD) makes sleeping rather uncomfortable; I guess it's all preparation for sleepless nights when Walnut is here!

Grumble, grumble, but it will be worth it when I see lovely Walnut (though I'm a bit scared of the whole giving birth thing...).

At home (stuck) again today, long list of things to do so had better start. Have good days everyone, will be thinking of CL and cazza1973 - sounds like you're both in safe hands.

  • Congrats lady M. Hope you are well with the birth too :) AFM nothing happening here, had strong period type pains the last 3 nights in bed but not a lot else.

Tipping it down with rain here so possibly won't be too encouraged to go out anywhere :o have some more sorting of paperwork to do though that would be useful if I could get done although not very exciting :p

Big labour vibes to all us bodies :D

    Morning everyone!!

CL - good luck for today!! Hope everything goes well for you!

Hi Pea!!! Welcome to the gossip corner!

Rups - what do you mean "get a reputation as a worrier"??? You have had that rep since the beginning!!! Lol! Wouldn't have you any other way!!!

LadyM - huge congrats. Glad baby is here safely and you are both doing well!

Good luck Cazza - hope things are going/have gone wel for you!!

Woo Aida on queue jumping - how exciting to know that baby will be here before Christmas! No uncertainty! On the subject of babies turning at a late stage - my brother did it apparently. I was breech and a c-section so they were concerned he might be too. He was head down at 38 weeks and mum asked for induction. They said no and that he wouldn't move now as engaged. One week later mum went back to hospital and said there had been a lot of movement, examined again and yup, little sod was in breech. Mum was upset as she didn't want another section so they sent her home telling her he may move again. Sure enough 1 week later he was back to head down so they induced her immediately! Lol. He was, and continues to be 35 years later, a contrary sod!!!! :)

Bump size is sometimes not a good indication of baby size! Scans have a 20% margin of error on the size and the fundal height measurement is only a guide. We were told that DS was going to be about 9lb so we returned the newborn stuff we had and got 0-3mths. Good job we did as he was 10lb 10oz at birth and there had been no indication he was that size. They knew he was bigger than average but not that big. I am 5'4 and DH is 5'8 so we have no idea where he came from. Apparently this baby is about average size and my bump doesn't seem as big although I still feel massive! So long as baby comes out healthy with a relatively straightforward arrival then he/she can be any size they want! lol!

Bamama - oddly my husband would love a wee girl. Don't get me wrong he adores our son and is delighted we had him but I know he would have loved a wee girl. Although after having had 2 losses and knowing some family and friends who are struggling to conceive - he no longer cares about gender. Mind you he loves getting down on the floor and racing cars up and down the hallway! I told DH in the delivery room after DS was born that I'd do it once more - midwife was gobsmacked that i said I would do it again - she said most women at that stage say their OHs are getting nowhere near them for at least a year! :D

Savage - that is a lovely neat bump! Wish someone had told my baby at the start that the bump ios supposed to remain at the front and not spread round my hips to my bum!! :rotfl:

Marta - I can't believe you are almost at due date already!!!

Am back on the crutches again as the PGP got worse. Never mind. Less than 2 weeks at work and then I am off for Christmas (or the end of the world if the Mayans are right). Hurrah! I hate being in pain and the nausea is ever present but it'll be worth it in the end.

So after that marathon post I'm going back to work. I will be lurking however and will try and get back on later. If I have missed anyone out then apologies!!! Neph x

Hey MushyPeas I didn't say welcome did I? Apologies!

Sorry to hear you are struggling with sleeping and pains. My gosh what a lot of fluid! My MW doesn't seem to think I have much, not causing any worries though.

*hugs Neph* take it easy, don't like hearing you're on crutches. Your OH sounds like the type of guy who wants a little girl to spoil rotten!

Spoil a girl rotten??? He's doing that nicely with DS! Lol!!! He didn't have a happy childhood and he just wants his own kids to have the love and stability he didn't have I think. I really am very lucky with DH. He may have irritating little habits but he looks after me and DS.

Crutches aren't too bad. There are others who have to use wheelchairs and everything so really i am very very lucky. Plus there are those who would love to be able to have a baby even with the associated pain and problems I've had. I'm just grateful to be able to have this baby!

Are you feeling any better today Bamama? I got the impression you had reached the point where you desperately want baby to arrive!

Must be nice to have someone so caring Neph. My OH is too don't get me wrong but with all the hours he's working... I've been feeling a little neglected :(

And I'm ok. Just had enough now, you know? Don't feel myself. Not long left anyway!

Neglected may be the wrong word. Ano he's working so hard to make up for the money we're losing while I'm off.

Bamama - sometimes I feel a bit that way too. To be honest it's more than likely the hormones. You do get fed up at the later stages. Your body isn't your own and you start to want it back again. You are on your own in the hosue while your OH is at work and you start to wonder what things are going to be like afterward. It'll be ok, I promise.

Mine was the same before DS was born - he worked all the hours he could as the only thing he felt he could do at that time was earn the money to support us. Your OH isn't doing it on purpose. He just doesn't feel the way you do right now - they can sympathise all they want but men just can't empathise as they have no concept of it all. DH recently confessed that he hadn't been too sure how to deal with me in the final weeks before DS was born and that everything changed for him the first time he held him in his arms. Suddenly his world shrank down to just me and DS and he could see what i had been feeling for 9 months. All the emotions and stuff that i had been dealing with and had time to process, he was hit with them all at once! He bounced off the walls for days - it was kind of cute! lol!

You'll be ok - just hang in there. i know it seems like forever away but remember how fast time has moved up to now. Use this time wisely! By that I mean see your friends, eat what you want, watch tv, sloba round, do whatever makes you happy/comfortable. When your baby does arrive you won't get time to do any of that stuff and you will never get this time back. I know it seems hard but just relax and go with the flow. Talk to your OH - he will be worrying about you, about the baby, about how you are both going to cope. He just may not be able to articulate it all as he won't want to worry you. Big hugs!!!

Thanks! :) I can't believe either I am that close... Yesterday I took my notes out for the first time (other than to mw), as before it had not really sunken in that I was that close! Half of the stuff is still in the to-do list, I need to crack on it today!!!

I have been also having very strong period style pains, although I don't want to call them "pains" because I am trying to do the hypnobirth thing and you are encouraged not to define your symptoms in "pain" terms. I haven't been very good with the techniques either :( I read the book and listened to the main track a few times but I do not seem to master the breathing, I get tired and you are supposed to get relaxed, but my lips go dry and my nose cannot take that much air, I feel out of breath often and I need to just get air normally. Anyone has any tips? I am positive about the birth though, if anything, the book has helped me to see the whole process differently and relax about it.

I saw the news about Kate, my DH says she needs to put more than a few pounds to carry the baby safely, but apparently she's got very bad morning sickness, so not sure how she'll manage!!

I'm going to get ready and go out. I'm looking for baubles at the Xmas market with "baby's first year" on them as a present for grandparents and godparents. I also need an extra sock with her name!!! :) I need to collect also DH 's glasses, we had to go out in an emergency last evening trying to find a place where he could do an eye test and get glasses asap, as he broke his and his second pair are sunglasses! Bad timing! I was thinking of homebirth as alternative to him driving me to hospital lol. Most opticians had a 2 week wait minimum for glasses, but Vision Express did his test at 6pm and told us to go today after lunch to collect the glasses, very quick. Free eye test and a 30% student discount I managed to get in... Even though DH is no student and officially I am neither because I have interrupted the programme for the pregnancy!!! They did not ask for my NUS card or anything either, I just showed them the offer on screen with the code on my mobile, and they accepted it!!

Welcome pea, before I forget again!!! :)

See you all later, I want to be back by 2pm or so, I don't really want to be out for too long!

Thanks Neph :) nearly made me cry though lol :P I'm sure you're right... everytime I've asked OH what he wants for Christmas he says that I'm already giving him the greatest gift anyone could ask for ^^ shouldn't really doubt the way he feels.

Good luck with shopping marta. I found some lovely baubles you can order online for £9.95... free delivery over £30. Can have them personalized and they have quite a few designs.
