Evening ladies
Rups, hope your last day went well, you'll be able to enjoy a lovely lie in on Monday! We've just bought a cheap manual pump for now, we'll get an electric one if I decide I want to express regularly. 2 of my sisters could feed no problems, but couldn't get much with any kind of pump, so I'm not sure it's worth splashing out til I've established feeding and tried the manual one. Expressing is also quite time consuming as you have to fit it in around all your regular feeds, so I don't think it's something we'll do regularly.
I'm feeling a bit useless today, I'm soooo pregnant now it hurts to walk around as all the ligaments at the bottom of my bump are sore. So all I've done today is sit on the sofa, eat and watch tv. My biggest achievement is doing the washing up, haven't even managed any knitting! So fed up.
Every night I go to bed hoping labour will start overnight and then nothing happens, I feel lke my body is broken! Plus the number of texts and emails asking for news is getting ridiculous. Got a fb message yesterday that just said "well???". So rude! As if we'd have had the baby and kept it secret!
Right, self pitying rant done. will try and do something useful before DH gets homeLittle monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -

Hiya everyone! I have got an actual money saving tip today! It occurred to me this morning that I hadn't got a room thermometer for the baby's room yet, so off I went to do some research into which ones are good. Lots of talk of GroEggs but on reading reviews they seem very expensive. I eventually decided the one I want is the Philips Aventi Blue flower Baby Bath and Room Thermometer - it's got a digital display and is waterproof so can be floated in the bath as well as used in a room. My initial search suggested it would be cheapest off Amazon at £12-odd. However, I then did some more searching and found that Philips' own website is selling it for £11, and a quick googling of Philips promo codes turned up a 30% code on a popular site (which also has a temperature in the name...) Once I applied this code and selected free delivery I got the whole thing for £7.70 which I was chuffed about.
In other news we bought a webcam today which geeky MrB is going to set up as a baby monitor which we will be able to look at via the telly or the PC or the laptop or the smartphones.
We also went today (OH took a day off) to the midwifery-led unit where I will be giving birth if all goes to plan - it's at Cardiff's Heath Hospital and it was absolutely lovely. They showed us the delivery rooms which all have pools and are really swanky and new, and also the room we'll be moved to if we stay in for the night which was very nice too, double bed, nice bedding, reminded me of a budget hotel (which is nicer than I was expecting from a hospital.) So we now know where we have to go and where the drop-off zone is for the day. Annoyingly though it's the only hospital in Wales that charges for parking, looks like it could get expensive if I end up being there for a while so we also did a cruise round the local area to identify the closest streets where OH could put the car for free once I am settled in etc.
I am due on Monday, I can hardly believe it! Got excited last night when my Braxton Hicks were painful for the first time, but nothing has happened yet. It wasn't very painful, I could still talk and everything, so that might just be a normal consequence of being absolutely gigantic I guess! Having said that, everyone I tell my due date is saying that I am smaller than they would expect at this stage (midwife says this too but says not to worry because my bump is still expanding, it's just littler than most people's and since I am little generally she doesn't seem concerned.)0 -
missbunbury :beer:Thanks for the thermometer tip.
What webcam you've bought and how much it costs?
Lots of labor vibes to you and to all boldies!:smileyheaBaby Aida is here :j:j:jBaby fund - £3140/£60000 -
It's a Foscam one off Amazon, was just under £70 so not super-cheap but MrB's geek friend recommended it over the cheaper ones. You can get what looks like the same thing but unbranded for half the price but apparently the £31 one does an annoying thing where it crashes and resets, which would be ok except our mate tells us that when this happens, the camera itself resets its actual lens-pointing position so you can't see baby and have to go in there to sort it out, which does sound immensely annoying.0

I have that same thermometer, it's great and very accurate.
Great about the room to stay, at my hospital they said DH could not stay overnight unless I am in labour, and I can tell you that if he doesn't stay, me neither, so they better consider exceptions!!!
I couldn't be bothered to cook, so went out with the Tesco vouchers deal
I have been feeling baby's head more down my pelvis, I think she's dropped a bit too as my belly looks different, less straight and more down, but it might be the weight. I am feeling light headed more often, but I don't think there's anything to worry.
I bought the Medela pump just because some people were saying is softer and it does not hurt as others do, because it has a gentle setting to encourage milk production, then the pumping setting after. Plus you don't have to do much, just press the button. I guess I am just on the lazy side!!! Lol And then there's also the fact that second hand ones get sold at £40-£60 on eBay. I paid £75, so I won't lose much if I don't use it and sell it. Ask in the newborn thread, Rups.Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Are you trying NJ30 ? That's the one I can see. It won't work on already discounted items, it is for the Philips store only.
EDIT: it works for me, despite saying in the t&c that the code cannot be used for discounted items.Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Well that was a much better sleep than expected. Both of us were nodding off at 8 so told OH it was pointless sleeping on the settees and get up cause we're going to bed! Well I had one pee break and did wake a couple of times to turn over but I've only been awake about half hour0
