rups when I went to NHS antenatal class they explained breast feeding using a knitted boob! Unfortunately it had obviously been made with leftover wool and was blue with a white nipple! I spent the entire session hoping that feeding didn't turn your boobs that colour! :rotfl:0

Just poking my head in to say good morning! I do read this thread but I can't always keep up! Plus I'm a bit shy, heh.
Been a difficult few days for myself and bump. Went to see the midwife again (being monitored very closely as I'm still having sodding contractions!) and she was concerned as the bump didn't seem to have grown in two weeks and it feels very firm. My little lad chose that precise moment to get the hiccups and she could see everything from the outside so she was getting worried that I was losing fluid. She booked me in for an emergency growth scan the next day. Turns out, the baby is growing perfectly and there's plenty of fluid. I'm just skinny apparently! I was a size six before I got pregnant and I'm still in size 8s now, 32 weeks in!
I do love having these extra scans, even though the only reason I'm having them is because I'm having a horrible pregnancy. I get to see my little lad again on 9/11, very excited!
Also, a bit tmi but I've been suffering from AWFUL piles the last few days. Seriously, it's one of the worst pains ever! I called my parents sobbing the other night because I couldn't deal with it anymore, I just wanted this pregnancy to be over, I think the piles were the last straw. My mum actually drove to the 24 hr Tesco and picked me up some cream for it and dropped it off at my house at midnight I was crying so much! Neither myself or my fella drive so I was SO grateful! My mum is so awesome, I don't know of anyone else who would fetch bum cream for someone else at stupid o'clock in the morning, lol!
Luckily, the cream, combined with the cocodamol I was prescribed for the rib flare and some nice hot baths seem to be doing the trick. Just hope they go away completely before the birth - eep!! I desperately don't want a C-section unless it's a medical necessity but my mum's convinced I'm going to need one after all I've been through in this pregnancy!
Got a home visit with my boss today as I've been signed off from work, I've said I'll travel up to work instead of having her come here as it's a long commute and she's a brilliant boss but very busy lady. I feel guilty enough that I'm having all this time off so anything I can do to make it easier for her I will do!Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).0 -

Are many of you ladies under a consultant? Turns out I'm supposed to be but not met with her yet due to a mix up with the midwives! Grr! 1st appointment next week - what do other people do in their consultant sessions that aren't covered by the midwife?0 -
awhh poor you MissKeith. I hope you are feeling better today and thanks for coming on here. we chat about anything anyway so its nice we can help each other out. Very sweet of your mum to help out too. is it just creams etc that can help the piles?
Babymonster, yes my dh is in some other land. i laughed when he said maybe the women just ought to go this class as we will get our boobs out and i said what? he is mad!

Morning ladies!
babymonster- it depends why you're under consultant care, I am under it for high BMI, others can be under it for being underweight, recurrent mc, lots of reasons. Mine are pretty boring, I get a scan and a discussion about what I shouldnt be eating, it's a good chance to talk to them about anything you don't think your midwife has covered properly. My consultant was the one who picked up my OC and sent me for blood tests there and then and got them processed straight away.
rups- tell oh to do one tonight and let you have a relaxing evening by yourselfhave a nice bath, watch rubbish tv, pig out on junk food. Now is not a good time to be getting stressed you need to chill out as much as you can especially for that little wriggler in your tummy!
cake- how exciting! the day after me! i'm trying to think of the pro's of labour, hopefully i wont be in labour for longer then 3 days at worst, i will be able to sleep on my tummy again, i wont be running to the toilet for a non existant wee every hour and i can have a mcflurry! :T and of course i'll have little Flumpus to actually see rather then just feel!
misskeith- sorry about pilesive never had them and to be honest im not sure if i knew i did? might ask dh to have a look for me later when he does my shaving for me :rotfl:
AFM not much to say! just chilling out and letting it all sink in that i'll have Flump next week, we havent told DH parents because they dont seem all that bothered by the pregnancy anyway, my parents are ecstatic and can't wait to meet their grandson and DH is just planning everything he's gonna do with him, apparently he's taking him to play ice hockey with him on Thursday!0 -

I'm under a consultant. I've only met them once at the beginning of my pregnancy, they explained they usually only get involved towards the end unless you have serious problems that cannot be handled by your midwife. I've seen the registrar a few times, mine has had me closely monitored for obstetric cholestasis and ordered extra scans and blood tests. I'm assuming now the end of my pregnancy I'll have more contact with them. Not too sure if my experiences are the norm though!Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button.
