Aida - All woman are entitled to accrue holidays while on ML, the same as if you were working. Don't forget that if your ML starts before Christmas then you'll get those holidays too. Check and see with HR as you might have to use them before you go... or most seem to let you tag them on the end or carry them over.
That took some brain power when I haven't even gotten out of bed yet. Better move. I start at half 8!0 -
Essentially you can't be on 'two types of leave' at once. Therefore if you're on maternity leave for, say, six months, any bank holidays and annual leave entitlement during that time accrues and can be added to your leave, or taken at a later date. If your contract allows it, money can be paid in lieu of this holiday."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Aida,
I think if you get SMP only you are entitled to your holidays and bank holidays as specified in your contract. So if you take 9 months and your contract says you get 24 days annual holidays & Christmas day, Boxing Day, New Years Day, etc. You will accrue 18 days annual leave plus all the bank holidays that you would normally have been paid full pay on while you are off on maternity leave.
I returned to work 4 days a week, but on full pay last time, by using my accrued holidays.
Make sure you check what your employers rules are on carrying over holidays from one holiday year to the next.
This is from www.lge.gov.uk
The Employment Rights Act provides that a woman is entitled to all her terms and conditions during both the ordinary and additional maternity leave periods (OML and AML), apart from remuneration, as though she was at work. In the case of employees employed under the Green Book, this can be interpreted as meaning that a woman should be given a day's leave for each bank holiday that falls during the OML and AML periods.
The obligation to give a woman substitute leave for the bank holidays that she was unable to take during her maternity leave was reinforced by the European Court of Justice (ECJ) decision in Gomez (see LGE Advisory Bulletin 483). This case concerned a fixed holiday period that fell during Ms Gomez's maternity leave. The ECJ held that a woman must be able to take her annual leave at a time outside her maternity leave. Bank holidays are effectively a fixed day's leave and it is believed that this principle should therefore be applied in such cases.0 -
Good morning btw ladies. How's everyone feeling?0

morning ladies
it's absolutely vile weather here today, foggy/misty rain and really cold, brrr! I'm meeting one of my NCT ladies for a swim in an hour, but I never feel like going swimming when it's cold and wet. Not sure why as I'm going to get wet anyway!:rotfl:
Beanie has been incredibly wiggly this morning, normally I don't get much movement til the evening. I actually felt a bit queasy while I was eating my porridge as my stomach was getting such a beating! Little bruiser!
no real plans for the rest of the day, apart from knitting as I have loads of projects to finish before baby arrives.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -

Slings - I've bought a Je Porte Mon Bebe (in the post I hope) - like a stretchy but more supportive and hopefully lasts longer. I was tempted by the Victoria Sling Lady stretchy or the Moby one too.
Darn it Savage - now there's another one on my short (long?) list!!! Lol!
Aida - Not sure about the bank holiday accrual. I will get my annual leave accrued but not my bank holidays because I qualify for the enhanced maternity at work.
Hang on - how did I get into the 40s in the list????0 -
-
hello everyone!
Hope you and bumps are all doing fine
Just a quick question, does anyone know what the Calcium is for on the supplements list? Thanks!0 -
Neph - I'd question about not getting your bank holidays... they can't take them off you for any reason, even if they offer you an enhanced package. It's your LEGAL ENTITLEMENT. Not that I'm an expert or anything... depends what your contract says about them but they are yours to take.
Still waiting to hear from Twinkle and I think Taadaa was having contractions so she may have gone in already.0
