Does anyone know if it's possible to earn a full-time wage on sites like Textbroker?0

"Phew" that took hours!
I have just sat and read all 43 pages here, and would like to thank the OP for the initial post.
I would also like to thank all the other people, who have put comments and advice, which I have found extremely useful. I am very interested and enjoy writing, but I have a couple of questions:-
1. How many words do you need to write for your first assessment in order to gain your star grading, and can this be about anything, or do they issue you subjects to choose from? I am more than happy to sit and type 1000 to 2000 words on a subject matter I know well.
2. Someone asked about working tax credit, I have a similar question how do you prove to the tax credit people how many hours you are working each week? I am aware you can be self-employed to apply for tax credits.
3. Are you asked which subject matters you have good knowledge of? I know people have said they take anything, and I would be happy to do so as I am good at research (just NOT gambling)!
It seems a bit hit and miss from what I have read, and people with a 3* rating seem to be complaining there is not enough work. I would like to be able to work almost full time at this, or at least 30 hours per-week, and just feel a bit unsure if there is enough work there.
I have just been made redundant and need an eye operation so will not take this up yet, but I am hoping someone will advise me if they work at this and claim working tax credits.
I see Sommer43 (I think is the username) works full time and earns a reasonable wage, and I know she says she is a level 4, I guess I will not know unless I take the plunge.
The one thing that has bothered me, is the amount of talk about online casino's, that is something I would not be interested writing about at all.
Can someone please specify what types of things they are asked to write about? I am a fast touch typist and hard work is not an issue, it is just I am a little scared of what is expected and on what type of subject matter.
I ran websites for years and know the internet extremely well, I also understand some webdesign so am not entirely stupid on key wording for Search Engine Optimisation. (I do wish this site would recognise words that are English, and not make me want to spell them in American!)
I did a search before Christmas about online typing, but I found most of them to be scams, or want me to pay to join them, which I am not prepared to do. I was most surprised when I found this thread and I am very pleased that I did.

I think it boils down to what rating you are assigned after submitting your sample article.
If you're assigned a 4* or above then there is regular work available although perhaps not enough to earn a full time income.
If you're assigned a 3* or worse then you can pretty much forget Textbroker and I would advise you to look for another money making vehicle.
I mistakenly believed that the sample article I originally submitted would just be one element of a continual assessment of my writing ability. As it turned out, the sample article is ALL important. If you're marked as a 3* writer then there is practically no work for you. Without any work you cannot improve your star rating.......it's a vicious circle
I joined over two months ago and only ever saw one article in the 3* category. This was after checking religiously several times a day, every day for two weeks. Since that time I have read some people finding some 3* jobs but it seems to be a case of visiting the site at the right time.
You would have thought Textbroker could have set up an email alert or something to let writers know of new projects.
Overall, I think the system is flawed although I am sure it works for some.No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -

I'm amazed you read it all. I got to about page 10 and then jumped to the end.
I know, I know, I need to go back and read, see if my questions are answered already.0 -

Hello. I have spent a number of frustrated days refreshing the open order page in the vein hope that an article that actually interests me may appear. This can feel very hopeless. Especially when each article only pays €5-7 euros.
To have a go at it full-time you have to be willing to write whatever is there. I work on Textbroker about five hours a day now and try and do an article every 40 minutes. I have a 10 minute rule. If no interesting articles appear in that time, I just take whatever is there.
The way I see it is that being able to write in an interesting and engaging way on a topic that it is very boring is only going to make us better writers in the long run. So we may as well embrace it.0 -
Yey, my 2nd article has been accepted.
Quick question, what's the best way of getting paid? It says on website to get paid directly into Paypal but I noticed on a previous message here that due to money being taken off for converting from euro to £ its best to use a certain bank?
Thanks in advance for your advice0 -
Just had a quick skim of the first page and this last page, so apologies if my question has already been answered but... the article they ask you to send them when you first sign up, do they give you a specific topic to write about or can you just send them something you've written before?0

Well, I joined up a couple of weeks ago, rated 3*, and have now had my first 5 articles rated by Textbroker. I received four 3*s and one 4*, and am royally pee'd off that I hadn't noticed that my version of Word (which I use to write the articles in first) had US English as the default dictionary! I think if it wasn't for that (and of course for me not noticing - doh!), I could have moved up to 4*, as that was the majority of my feedback! That and the use of commas, sigh!
I've managed to change the dictionary to UK English (that was a feat in itself!), so hopefully onwards and upwards.
I have a full time job, so am doing articles the odd evening and weekends, they don't take me very long, and although I can't see myself ever being able to make a living out of Texbroker I'm enjoying writing the articles, it's a little bit of spare cash, and I hope will improve my writing skills!0
