I think you can take the proof reading test as long as you are a 4* writer, I have and failed. So I need to wait however long then retry.

I have never had a single rating from text broker!!!! Not one.

    Hi CW Smith

It took me around a couple of months to begin receiving direct orders, I am logged on from morning till around 7pm. I first started by shamefacedly contacting clients who I had written articles for. This in turn led me to building a rapore with clients and they began to send me orders. I always rate their instructions if they are clear and easy to follow.

I have just had this morning, 142 articles rated and this has kept me at 4*. I have one more month before I can complete the proof read test and hopefully I will succeed.

If you push with the editors, you will get somewhere and equally, give the clients some information, they will respond. ALthough I have had a couple of rude clients also and I simply do not want to engage with them again, that's what the blacklist is for.

Initially, it looks like very little money, but keep plugging away, you will get somewhere. I took a leap of faith with them and it has paid off. I work full time and I do manage a good income from it.

    142 ..............!!!! Strewth, you do keep busy!!!:D

Only been doing this for a month, just finished my 6th article and still not venturing out of my "comfort zone" subject-wise, so I've a way to go yet!

But well done you! (Did you see the order for "after dinner willies" today ............... omg!!:rotfl:)

Oh I have written over 200 articles, am never short of work...

Hahaha, no I didn't, as I do some for the German platform, I have been in there this morning... Dealing with some Swiss nightmare of a client... Although, I think I have won them over with my very Britishness on "banging" out articles, which they found interesting terminology... Did you pick it up?

    That's proper funny!

If you don't mind me asking, did you contact all clients that you wrote articles for or just the ones that you got particularly good feedback from? I've done more than 150 articles since I first signed up, but only had a few Direct Orders.

    Hi Natu

I'll write to anyone who is willing to listen... :rotfl:

Just the ones I enjoyed the articles for. I have one client now who sends me a few per week. He is brilliant and we have built up quite a chatty little scene, behind the scenes. I do try to earn around £50 per day, which gives me the income necessary. Today, I have had a day of loads of messages, so earnings wise, it has been slow, but by Wednesday, I have usually a few in the bank ready for payoff on a Thursday.

If you have done more than one order for a client, then write to them and ask them to consider you for any direct orders.

I always ask, I find it works.
  • Is there still a good amount of work/choice on this site?

I've just done my test piece. How will they inform me of my rating, and will it be by email or on the site itself?

    Cheers!

Aha, thanks for the reply. There are certain topics I prefer writing for, but unless I get Excellent all round I figured there's no point contacting the client if they're not super pleased with my work! I'll definitely consider your advice - I did a few fitness articles for a client recently and they liked my work, but I didn't think to contact them afterwards.
  • I finally received ratings on my 58-article backlog, and glad to say they were all given 4*. Across the 58 articles they picked me up on one typo and about ten commas, nine of which I must admit were wrong, but the tenth was arguable either way ;)

Anyway, for anyone struggling with this contentious little squiggle, there's a great guide here: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/607/01/

I haven't written anything for a month or so as I've been working as a Christmas casual at the Royal Mail, and have found night shift to be not very conducive to coherent writing! Now RM are talking about a longer contract, so it may be some time before I'm back wielding the keyboard in anger. Still, it's good to finally have my rating confirmed :D
