Does anyone have their mother in law living with them?

Well IMO its best for her to find her own place for your sanity's sake - & don't ever feel guilty for packing her bags!!
I would get the flags out on moving day! Good luck with finding her a place of her own x0 -
I could never have my own Mother living with me, never mind my MIL!
OH had his Nan living with the family when he lived at home and saw the damage it did. She was a lovely person, but the atmosphere in the house was terrible.
Good luck with this. I hope you manage to find her somewhere and you can have your house back.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £10,153.440 -
Do I contact the council? She doesn't have the means to buy and I think renting would be expensive.0

No there is no medical reason for my mother in law to live with us. She is very independent.
How on earth did it come about then that she ended up living first with her daughter and then you? What happened to her home?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
OP, it may be worth giving these folk a call:

I could have my mum/mil living with me if I had a massive house with several wings and two kitchens and a cottage at the bottom of the garden

What was the reason she went to live with her daughter in the first place?
Giving up her house would (assuming she had one) is a big step, especially if it doesn't work out.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £10,153.440 -
I would happily shoot myself before living with MIL

She lived in rented accommodation in Spain with her husband, then he passed away. So my mother in law's daughter insisted that she moved back to the UK to live with her. It was a useful arrangement as it meant she had a full time baby sitter. When the daughter turned 13, it appeared these services were no longer required and my mother in law got turfed out.0
