Fair warning - this is a rant.

Per the BBC website re the death of MT. Parliament, although due to return in any case next week, has been recalled from its Easter recess for one day only to "pay tribute and debate her legacy". Up to seven and a half hours have been set aside for the debate (Ted Heath got an hour apparently).

On top of the estimated cost of the ceremonial funeral of £8million, MP's who are recalled can claim up to £3,750 in expenses (this top whack is if they return from overseas)

Ted Heath died when Labour was in power of course.

Imagine you have to prepare for an emergency 72 hour bug-out but you can only take three things with you, what three items would you take and why? There is a total weight limit too - just 1 oz (1 oz = 28 grams)

Here are the three things I would take (total weight < 5g)

    1. A cloudless sky - that means it probably won't be raining so you have a chance of keeping warm and dry under the sun

    2. A condom - it can be used as a water carrier and once you have filled up your condom with water you can use it as a magnifying glass to light a fire. If it is a super-stretchy condom you could also use it as a waterproof bivvy bag and a sling shot to kill game.

    3. A tampon - use as kindling to light a fire or to stuff that bullet hole when the zombie killers shoot you!

I guess you get the idea - sensible and ridiculous answers equally welcome!

    1. condom
    2. condom repair kit
    3. water purifying tabs

I had a look at recombinomics site and it is now 33 confirmed cases
    at 1300 today.

It does look as if it is responding to anti virals if patient gets them quickly enough but still looks like a high fatality rate so far.

DD is now staying till weekend and going back to uni then so pleased to have her home for longer.

Managed to get meat from local butcher and home made rolls and marinated chicken are in oven for tonight and a butternut squash soup is on the hob.

    Pineapple

Chernobyl folks are treated with chlorella and spirulina - green algae - which is expensive on the high street but from a US source (i) know sells (herb) at cheaper price. Not too many spams from them.

Can you make a nuclear bunker out of a ball of string, some sellotape and a pair of marigolds?

    You've missed out three items.

The middle from a toilet roll, some Sticky Backed plastic and (most important of all), a pair of Val's old knickers.

Well that's probably better than a sleeping bag as you are so restricted in a bag that allows you freedom of movement. And could be useful if you say want to make a drink and stay warm.

    Thanks...

Pops know what you mean, the local near us has been closed down. Think our nearest one is saltburn or hartlepool.

Were steadily using our supplies, one bit of advice don't buy pasta fro farmfoods its really nasty and takes ages to cook. From now on I'm buying basics pasta and rice.

Read sub zero lat night, couldn't sleep so ended up finishing the book. It was really good and scary at how fast things can change.
