Thanks, you will have me blushing next!:o
It's the simple things, and simple life for me.
Wouldn't want the responsibility of looking after gazillions, or the loneliness of locking myself in a fortess, cos of fear of kidnappers etc. No fear of that here! Take one look, and bliddy leave something (or tidy up!).
Hee hee hee! Nothing nicer than cuddling dog on the armchair, in front of a fire, nibbling something tasty (holds out the chocolate muffins - any takers?), flicking the 'mote, or reading my fave book - apopcalytic ones at the moment, all cosy and snuggly with my throw....
Or counting things like tins.
Or watching the seedlings grow, and think of all the lovely fresh veggies....
I could go on and on.... Well, I have, a bit.
Take care all you poorlies out there, and, any of you carers of poorlies, remember you need rest too, so you can re-charge! There's always chocolate....

D&DD hope you find you can sort your Dad out when you get there. Hugs xx
2tonsils, congratulations on the job, hope everything goes well for you both and you manage to get everything in place. Dont blame you for moving, it must have been a worry.
Off to visit Mum tonight, first time after her op. My brother keeps asking what shopping she needs and cannot believe that she prepped completely and has everything she needs for upto a month. All he has had to get her is bread and the Sunday papers - I am so proud of her. She even bought paperbacks to read and though she is a little stir crazy she is doing well.
DD is comfy in her new house and today I saw she has started her pantry. She didnt have any space before but now she has a few extra tins of beans and such and Im really pleased as it now means I dont have to feed both houses if TSHTF.
GK Thats good news, hope your mum is feeling much better!
Nice to have family on board with prepping; even if it's just personal SHTF it's all good....
Sorry folks, seem to have verbal diahhorea(SP?) again. Or is it keyboard trotters?
DDog is snoring again, after we chased her round the garden this morning (with another frog!) Poor !!!!!! copped it before we could rescue it. Wonder if she has a scorecard of deceased frogs somewhere! Then onherwalk(argh spacebar) she ate a choc muffin cake paper, have to have eyes in the back of my head for this one!
She's so cute, butter wouldn't melt, but a typical terrier, into everything. She was 'helping' me prune earlier, by chewing on plants next to me - arrrggghhhh.
Thank god she's out of her digging phase...
Take care all

:T Glad to see you back, 2tonsils, and all the best for your new job. Here's hoping all is confirmed soon. We missed you.
Heckuva bad luck with the house's ailment being worse than originally thought. Old houses are lovely (I was born in a 1600 vintage cottage) but they can have hidden surprises. A pal was selling her cottage here in Provincial City and showed me the surveyor's report which said in almost as many words; the oldest bit is 500 years old, the newest bit is 300 years old. All appears sound but with a property this age you'd virtually have to dismantle it to check further. So there.Of course, it was couched in much more professional tones. I used to love rolling a marble over the floor upstairs; it had a swale on the floorboards which you could have skateboarded on. I expect having survived half a millenia and the Luftwaffe, it'll probably see us all out. And those Barratte boxes, too.
Been at work talking to people about Stuff and managed to get thru an entire shift without the words b*d**m t*x passing my lips, blessed be.
I may have accidentally wandered into Tosspots and allowed a pkt of mini muffins fall into the basket. In my defence, m'lud, they woz reduced. And I added another 2 li water bottle and a big box of matches for the stash whislt I was there. You'll always need water and matches, I reckon.
Thriftwizard, love the idea of making the scooter workshop into a shop-from-home on a shoestring and a prayer. We have several similar kind of places here, lots of vintage sellers under one roof. Seems to be the coming fashion as shop rents get expensive. Here's hoping a rousing success and that you mebbe meet interesting preptastic people (and sell them things, natch).
Urgghh, suppose I should tidy up. I was gardening or with pals at the weekend and as a result have nothing to fear from burglars atm; place appears ransacked.
Laters, GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Says it all really doesn't it. Makes me feel sick how much they are going to spend on that funeral. Whilst I had the greatest respect for Maggie and am in fact one of Maggie's children (as they call us who grew up under her Govt.) I fail to see why so much money needs to be spent on her now she is dead.0 -
Fair warning - this is a rant.
Per the BBC website re the death of MT. Parliament, although due to return in any case next week, has been recalled from its Easter recess for one day only to "pay tribute and debate her legacy". Up to seven and a half hours have been set aside for the debate (Ted Heath got an hour apparently).
On top of the estimated cost of the ceremonial funeral of £8million, MP's who are recalled can claim up to £3,750 in expenses (this top whack is if they return from overseas)
Why couldn't they wait till next week if they must have their say, she won't be any less dead by then. Why have a debate at all, it'll likely descend into cross the floor yelling, jeering, point-scoring, the usual spectacle. Certainly won't change anyone's point of view, let alone history. Futile exercise, funded by us. If they're desperate to say their piece - then use Twitter and Facebook, or add to the millions of words on the subject already online, on tv and in the press. At no direct cost to the nation.
Why do we have to stump up a penny, let alone up to £3750, to get an MP back to Westminster for one pointless debate - it's hardly a national emergency. They tell us that cuts in welfare are necessary because every saving is essential, the country is in deep trouble, but suddenly, according to Hague, " (MT's EU achievements) puts money in perspective... so I think we can afford to contribute to a funeral". An £8million and counting funeral. I thought the country was broke.
I'd just like one day, just one, where I don't have a !!!!!! moment about some aspect of public life and the behaviour of TBTB. I'm so fed up of being voiceless. and breath.......

As for funeral costs reportedly the family (where are they?) are going to stump up half. Hmm...
Back to prepping, news that powdered baby milk is being rationed.
http://newsfeed.time.com/2013/04/10/uk-retailers-begin-rationing-baby-formula-in-response-to-chinese-demand/
Sorry if this has already been mentioned.
Meanwhile pineapple has just avoided a panic attack after realising she has run out of mayo! Cue lightbulb moment - make it your flippin self why don't you. So I will.
It's just that I need a big crunchy salad to balance out last night's disgusting greasy plateful of fried battered potatoes  and I can't do salad without at least a hint of mayo...0 -
I'd call it "restricted" rather than "rationed". It's to prevent people buying in bulk and sending it over to China, not for Mum's not to be able to have an extra tin or two up their sleeves. There's nothing to prevent a shopper going to every supermarket and chemist in town and buying two tins in each.
Thriftwizard: I'm very upset by your mention of getting rid of a Mouli. I've been on the lookout for one in the charity shops for yonks and not so much as a sighting.
To say that I'm enraged about the MT funeral is putting it very mildly indeed. Eight mill and flags at half-mast for someone who caused such terrible damage to the "society" which she claimed didn't exist? I don't think so. Churchill? Yes. Her? Not bloody likely! I don't agree with those who were out popping champagne corks and getting into rucks with the Polizei but I do see their point.
I have some good news: well good-ish. Someone has found my CV online and they want to invite me to an interview. A part-time job which I could combine with the part-time one I have already. They sound like a good company, so please keep your fingers crossed for me. So, next Wednesday at 10am cross everything available. Ta.0 -
OMG what next, rationing such a necessity but the problem is theres a good reason for the Chinese needing it - rock and hard place
I can relax again, I have topped up my store of oats. I am paying a great deal of attention to use by dates now and Mum went through her cupboard last night and checked hers. I hope when I am her age I am as aware as she is, bless her. Need to do an inventory of my stocks today so we dont have another porridge related crisis.
Bessie hope your interview went well hunny xxClearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Use By Dates. I can understand but I'm still here and I don't always worry if use by is a couple of days out. I have found in a decent fridge/cold room my fresh milk is fine upto 7 days after the date on the bottle..every time so far.
Agree with the posts regarding the main story at present...have come across a few stories being ignored or being played down which might've caused a furore but have been ignored or buried because this has distracted the public's attention. Only found them because of the internet.
Then again if its not being aired in the first place how can the public respond?
I eat carefully(ish)but I too was a bit naughty Pineapple by having a mushroom omlette, tomato, potato and swede patti and venison sausages, fried bread. But I did use olive oil.
BTW most of the above was reduced by the SM."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
