Hope everything goes well with the house sale and the job in Turkey.

Anecdotal but have heard a few people having problems with jobs in China and related places that were not what was agreed or finished abruptly without financial compensation etc.

I agree with you that I would rather know what to look out for and that anything I do is better than nothing to try to prepare for problems. There are a few sites I visit that have been very interesting and informative. Judging by newspaper headlines you would think the biggest concern for the country was diet or entering talent competitions ;)

  • Interesting suggestion that the H7N9 flu virus (although it is not showing up in animals tested) might be linked to thousands of dead pigs found floating in a river close to Shanghai in the last month. I cannot remember any mention of this on our news programmes in the last month, anyone else picked up on it?

If you haven't read it 'On The Beach' by Neville Shute is the ultimate disaster read but be prepared to get emotional.

Haven't read it but heard a BBC radio drama of the book...makes you think and again that was written so long ago but has not dated.

China has now announced 35 cases and also a very small number of cases that have a resistance to Tamiflu and Relenza.

Not sure I dare read "On the beach" especially now.

Making home made rolls for tonight with burgers and salad and have a pot of veg soup on hob for lunch.

    Hug to all.

I can only see 28 confirmed cases showing on the WHO site http://www.who.int/csr/don/2013_04_10/en/index.html

I did see the story on the news about all the pigs carcasses - gross!
  • Thanks DC I missed it completely, Cheers Lyn xx.

I had a look on newsnow and typed in bird flu.

Five new cases just announced in China in breaking news but WHO 's figures are usually lagging behind real time.

  • I have just been to the pharmacy and got some antibac hand gel. Just as a precaution I will use it every time I come back into the house, it was what was reccommended to do in the swine flu outbreak here in the UK and it won't do any harm but might be useful in the long run, Cheers Lyn xxx.

That is a good idea Lyn, I might start carrying some with me.

I saw a headline that said a new illness has struck in Hamburg but they don't know what it is yet.....one policeman dead and five people very ill. Unfortunately I can't find any more details about it yet.

I also saw that North Korea has moved one of their missiles into the upright ''fire'' position, that is worrying!

Yes, I heard that about the jobs in China as well, that some people have problems when they get there with not being paid or it not being what they agreed to. At the moment that sounds just like Greece! I know people who have not been paid for over a year.....
