    2tonsils,

It is really awful to hear of the suffering of people in so-called 'developed' countries. It makes you wonder if and when it will get better.

I think the UK is living on borrowed time, only because we have control of our own currency, however our lot in the big house have been and still are on a borrowing binge just as big if not bigger than Europe.

One day the bailiffs will come a-knocking for us too.

Cannot recall who mentioned seeds for the SHTF scenario, but on the realseeds website they address this, pointing out that there's little point in purchasing seeds to put away for a rainy day - the seeds will last fine but they recommend sowing them and gathering the seeds to save seasonally so you build up the skill of gardening and harvesting. Sounds sensible! it's an interesting read.

Greyqueen...talking of extreme weather events...we have more wild storms on the way! Just as I run out of firewood and my floor has dried out...

it looks like we will get the high winds, torrential rain , lightning and storms while you are in for a deep freeze and snow next week. The whole world's weather is crazy...Japan still has snow falling and they already have 17 meters of it!

Another vote here for the Real Seed Company - brilliant people, really helpful and friendly. Excellent seeds, too!
  • Thanks for all the recommendations for seeds. I've ordered some from the real seed company and I thought I'd plant some and store some. That way if I mess up the seed harvesting and the zombies come (just caught up on the walking dead!) I've still got some seeds in reserve - sorted! :j

Well speaking of seeds, I, the one that turns all green things to sticks has just put some green bean seeds in a pot.

Please be aware that this may bring on a plague of frogsz or even snow in July as the stick maker can cause all sorts of mayhem without trying.

Please watch this space for further developments on the growing of sticks.

Like GQ I don't see a long life ahead but with all the worry coming(defeatest attitude coming)why would I want to?

As for the criticism about whether people are suffering...I think worse will happen, well we know it is...come April.

Had a bit of a wobble again the last few days but hope I find the positive attitude returning again. Or at least living for the day and not looking too much to the past or the future.

I have avoided the booze and meds route so far. I find that sleep is the best option and I feel at my calmest through the evenings and early hours and my worst times are during the day.

I suppose in time it will right itself. I don't have problems sleeping nor with my diet so I should be thankful for that I guess.

    Popperwell,

Just one day at a time, and that well lived. Keep optimistic and don't worry too much about the future.

It's good to be aware and as prepared as is reasonable, but most things tend to sort themselves out over time. Sometimes it just turns out OK.

Good job most of us want very little. Thanks for that BB. I am very lucky really and should count my blessings...but you know, hard to believe that in approx 6 weeks a year has already passed by and finally I will be having to decide how to lay Mum to rest...that all must be playing its part.

Truth is I have surprised myself and I probably get more good days than bad in reality...

I have to avoid sounding sorry for myself or rather coming across that way.

    Appreciate your kind words...

Not exactly a programme to cheer anyone up but following on from the talk of pensions, preparation for hard times and food banks etc...found this on BBC 2 This World - America's Poor Kids...
