Thank you Westcoastscot I think I will order a ghillie.C.R.A.P. R.O.O.L.Z. Member. 21 Norn Iron deputy h

So far not seen much on the news about last nights outage. Just a reminder to have some cash fall back if you can manage it.

I would really like to start doing this, but always find myself digging into it for this or that reason--does anyone know of any tricks like the "freezing the credit card trick" that could be used on cash to keep me in line?0 -

Just now I'm 're-building' after a load of unexpected vets bills.0 -
Thinking about it, we did do this for ages with birthday and christmas money that was given to us. We never got around to paying it in so we just kept it for a couple of years as we were saving it for furniture--we've now bought the furniture. Perhaps I should try keeping it where I kept that money!0

FPK I save £1 and £2 coins and keep them out of sight and reserved for just such occurences as the cash machines etc. ceasing to function. That way I put odds and ends from my purse away and we don't notice it in the finances. I find that works well for me, hope that helps, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Actually that has sparked a thought--we have a large loose change box that I've been meaning to bag and take to the bank for ages. I've got to go to the bank on Saturday so will do it then. It is mostly coppers and 5p pieces. I've probably got a £1 coin in about four coats as I always keep them there for supermarket trips. I shall begin a cash savings plan!0

Have just done a mammoth shop at Mr T (our nearest supermarket) and was amazed at the hike in some of the prices. When I last bought strong flour (September ISh) it was 50p a pack 1.5kg, now it is 80p. Extra value instant custard powder has risen from 7pto 15p and the cheapest line in tomato pur!e has disappeared to be replaced by tescos extra value pur!e at a good few pence more. Anyway I put a few extra bits iNto the trolley which I will add to my prepping stores and hope that with careful monitoring and eating I will only be popping in for milk for the rest of the month. Having a coffee before I try to find homes for all the shopping.Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -

I watched it last night, what a disgrace for such a rich country and it has arrived here as well, thanks to the Liblabcons love of all things US. Mind you I found the kids to be obnoxious and irritating in the mainBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Scary isn't it!
I shop in Aldi and even their prices have risen, but not as sharply as the main supermarkups.
Flour in Aldi is 45p for a bag at the moment, so I have stocked up.
I have found that even B&M who used to be really good for canned and packet foods have reduced the stock that they hold and the prices have gone up as well.
I am another real seeds fan and have just received a big order and sod the lawn I will be growing more fruit and veg from now onBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I noticed the same, everything is going up and it is scary. We only have Asda and B&M close by.
I am very careful in what we buy and try to make sure we use our money well.
I have started to stock up even more that before, couldnt believe that the custard had gone up to 15p. Scary times ahead.
Glad I can come on here and talk about it, as some family and friends here dont notice the price going up or so they say.:eek:C.R.A.P. R.O.O.L.Z. Member. 21 Norn Iron deputy h
