I get a bit scared writing anything political because we do have different views depending on our situation and life experiences but the threat of SHTF is very much due to what parliament does...especially as we become older and incomes reduce.

WCS posted a link about the bedroom tax...I added some more and today came across the following...

Just as 2T finds stories ignored by the media and tells of what is happening in Greece, the same is happening in our own country with the media ignoring important stories that affect many...

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2013/feb/13/london-council-relocation-benefits-cap

You know what will happen...rents will increase in these alternative locations so any relief will be temporary. Also what happens to the services, properties and jobs available to the local population?

The movement of people around the UK has always happened but when you move a lot of people in one go It must have some affect. I wonder how(though they must have said that they will accept these people)local councils and people feel. I can see why it is compared to ethnic cleansing and comparisons to the immigrant debate.

And I am not saying that as some little Englander or with any racist slant whatsoever.

I also came across this today...

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/we-wont-put-up-with-this-residents-facing-brunt-of-bedroom-tax-will-refuse-to-pay-8498691.html

Would a simple way of reducing the cost of HB be that landlords, HA's and councils to reduce their rents accepting that people are struggling especially in these times? Or is that unfair or too simple as a solution. I am bound to have missed something important.

Also being on benefits or low income does not mean that these people are the dregs of society as often the media makes out. Many are decent but all get tarred with the same brush because it easy to do so.

The welfare state has been infiltrated with people using it out of lifestyle choice - the can's but won't's. I applaud the idea of making people think about getting a job if they can but think the way this government is going about it at this time is very, very wrong. I see what the powers that be are trying to achieve, why they are changing schemes and guidance but I am upset that so many genuine people are being penalised for a scheme that has been allowed to be abused. We could shout at the politicians all we like but what we have to do is question our parenting and upbringing. What has happened to make our proud working class folk not make any effort to work whatsoever, commit fraud, play the system and lie?

    Thanks Fuddle,
At the end of the day(I hate that saying:rotfl:)what we have to say is "Some" have worked the system but many are still decent. Even the official statistics say that the figures suggest the majority are genuine.

Worrying times...for sure. You know what? I don't think I have the answer and those in charge probably don't either.

Vanoo, took mutt1 to the vets today for annual booster, and he may well be joining your bulldog in the happy hunting grounds. Domino has a large lump on his tongue that the vet thinks might be oral cancer. Oh well, will make the most of him whilst he's here. X
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

hello all - I am in much need of some SHTF healing at the moment - our darling bulldog died suddenly of a heart attack on saturday morning, fortunately my husband and I were both with her and tried compressions and nose to mouth but she was gone so quickly. We're plodding around like zombies at the moment trying our best to get through this as we have the house move to orchestrate too but it's an absolute nightmare for us as I am sure you can all understand. Give all those gorgeous pets of yours an extra special cuddle from me and send some love up to our darling princess diva dog at rainbow bridge x keep yer feet warm and dry folks x

Vanoonoo sending you this :grouphug:so sad to hear that...
