This is the first update I have had today..lots of comments on facebook about the amount of thunder and lightning last night. Stay warm and safe folks...22 in the sun here...15 in the shade and sunny and dry...but apparently the cold spell next week that will hit the UK will get us as well...all the way down to North Africa!
UK Weather Forecast ·
Some heavy snow moving in to Lincoln/Lincolnshire at the moment.
Sheffield has seen some heavy snow for a time with thunder and lightning!
Showers will mainly affect the West and Central areas during today.
Tonight we see a front slide South Eastwards associated with a deep area of low pressure, winds will strengthen.
The precipitation will fall as snow initially across many areas in the North before turning to rain as there is a warmer sector in the low pressure.
Wednesday/Thursday is a day of sunshine and wintry showers affecting Eastern coastal counties of England with a few across the South West
Hello 2T
Thanks for this, tucked up nice and warm with extra supplies and no need to venture out....
Don't take things to heart on the forums, people can be a bit flippant but it doesn't come across well writing it, as it would speaking face to face. I for one enjoy finding out what's happening where you are, as well as your heads up over the weather too.
Anyway, you can't leave, you are a fully fledged prepper & we look up to you to inspire us!

All the Met Office forecasts said we would be dry and sunny spells here and the snow would hit the west. Maybe god thought "Ahahhh Mard hiz nae wellies" (cos god of course is Scots) - and he blew it further over. I need to get wellies lol
Mar, you're an absolute disgrace. And I am, too; the wellies in the store where I've gone several times to buy them are always out of my size and my hooves ain't that freakishly big.
Bearing in mind the kind of flooding previously seen in the streets around my block, regular wellies wouldn't really do the job, you'd probably need chest-high waders. I sincerely hope to have run like hell before that happened as I'm on the groundfloor near the river.
BigMummaF, thank you for the linkie, I followed it and have captured the instructions with the jolly cut-n-paste. My other wickmaking instructions off the web were similar.
Take cotton string or cotton twine and soak it in borax solution, hang to dry for several days, dip in melted candlewax, hand and dry ditto and then store wrapped in rolls of newspaper.
We have had a teensy tiny dusting of snow, sort of like a sifting of icing sugar onto a sponge cake. No doubt I shall be ordering up reloads to bliddy grit bins again tomorrow. No one should know how exactly how many grit bins there are in her own city, t'isn't natural.
It has occured to me, when reading OS household manuals, that if you tried to source some of the chemicals listed today, you'd have to go to a pharmacist, not a hardware store, and would prolly be visited by anti-terrorism police shortly afterwards. An ex-employer once told me how to commit arson on a stolen car........... and we worked in the motor trade.

She needs you man, you cannae leave us now, or the sales of jelly babies in the UK will founder and we will all know the consequences!!!!!! Don't go, please! Lyn xxx.0

And we know where to find you; can't be too many mountain villages in Corfu, we'll just cruise around til we find you and re-attach you to the interwebulator.
Make it easy on yourself, give in now.

LOL....I was out to dinner with an Ozzy Osbourne look alike with my OH...and Ozzies wife..you couldn't make it up could you? The dinner was lovely, home cooked vegetarian food and gluten free.
Well the s truly hit the fan here in Greece. The ferries stated that their strike would continue till at least Wednesday so the government issued orders to conscript them all into the army immediately...which they often do here to break strikes. So two ports are going to try to go back to work tomorrow and the rest are going to picket them and cause chaos.
. We already have food and petrol shortages and the supermarkets are near empty in some areas. Folks are stuck on the mainland and in Venice with no way to get back here...... I went and filled up my scooter as it is economical on the petrol and I could use it in emergencies if we used all the car tank and couldn't refill. I realised today there might be medicine shortages as well as they are brought over from the mainland to restock the chemists here.
My OH went to the doctor today to have accupuncture and he was feeling great when he went....only to have his back killing him within an hour of getting home...not sure if he overdid it or the doctor made it worse....... giving him a muscle relaxant and hoping it goes okay tonight.
I had cramp in my thigh last night and it took ages to ease off...today its been grabbing me with a sharp pain all the way from my knee to my thigh and back again every time I try to get up from the chair/toilet. I have taken anti inflammatories and anti cramp tablets and have now found a knee wrap. I don't think I will be going to the gym tomorrow.....
Hope you all managed to stay warm and dry. Lots of people reported bad thunderstorms last night as well as snow and high winds. Have been told the icy blast is going to come down as far as us...that is going to be fun with no fuel, wood shortages and little food left in the supermarkets...thank God I am a prepper!!!!!!
The weather prediction maps are still showing the extreme cold on its way to the UK and I have been told it will also affect Spain and come down as far as North Africa by mid month. It still seems on track for around 10th Feb although I can see it creeping in to Scotland earlier than that.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
anyone watching the Mary Berry Story what a lovely childhood she had, apart from the polio of course and loosing her son but it's a delightful story.:j0
