I ''spout '' the weather forecasts to warn others of what really is coming and not the carp the met office or bbc/sky tell you. I thought I was helping people on here and the thank you's show me they do help. I can stop posting them if you wish..... I put them up for all areas as people on here live all over the place....and I live in Greece so favour no particular area to post them for.

Ello, you are helping us on here, would we have even known about the extent of the snow fall if we hadn't your information. BBC and Sky are full of crap, and weather is only the tip of the iceberg! (no pun intended!!)

Keep at it, I'll still be following your reports :)

We're 12 miles east of Manchester and it was absolute chaos on the roads this morning. In spite of it being forecast and the snow starting last night I don't think even the main roads have been gritted. Cars were slithering down the lane. One was completely on the pavement at the bottom of the hill so I had to cut across a bit of rough ground then step down off a low wall to get past!

It's all slush now. I've just been to the charity shop for my shift only to find it's closed for the day.

I just hope the binmen get through tomorrow. They didn't turn up two weeks ago and the recycling bin is very full.

At least the schools do seem to be open today.

Betwixt Bradford and Skipton here - in a field Lancashire side of Haworth. It's proper snow at the mo - big grown up flakes - and spectacularly horizontal! So I'm dug in and baking bread. ;) But it keeps changing and no doubt the sun will come out as soon as I press 'send'
With respect to your weather forecasts 2tonsils, a lot of the time our local TV weather does seem to forecast what's going to happen - imo the main difference is one of degree. Like now for example - they did forecast some snow but not an effing blizzard! If I go out now I'll need to be got up like Nanook of the North and the collie will need her parka and a brandy bottle round her neck ;)
Whatever - it's always good to have a different source. Much like our MSM news in fact. :(

2tonsils, I know bigmumma well and I'm sure she meant no disrespect to you, she's just not that sort of person. Maybe just an unfortunate choice of words. We all find your forecast posts really helpful, thank you for helping us to be prepped and ready for whatever weather comes our way :)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

So far so good here in the south east of England.

It's been a lovely sunny day, I even have the window open (very slightly)

So far this winter we've missed the majority of the snow.

Here in Kent we suffer more when the weather comes from the east in winter- if there's an easterly wind we can get a blast right over from Russia.

Eeek - I'm currently wellie-less too, since a passing tomcat was mistaken as to the purpose of my favourite sawn-off wellies which some helpful OH had left outside the back door... there's a pair that does fit me, but not very well; I wouldn't want to wear them for more than a couple of hundred yards or my feet would be blisters all over, even though they are officially my size.
I do have a good pair of waterproof walking boots, though, so I haven't suffered for the loss yet. Just waiting for another suitable pair to turn up at a jumble sale or similar...

Sincere Apologies 2T; as usual I had read through what I had written, with the full inflection in my 'head-voice' where I had intended. I am so sorry if it came across as a criticism as that was not the case.

The character I was talking about would always enter a room & give conditions for all the coastal waters even though the family did not sail. The 'spouting' was directed toward her forthright delivery & the way all in the room were expected to relish the information as much as she.

So again, I offer my most profound apologies for the mix-up.

I found something for you on another thread GQ, about making your own candle wicks...or maybe you have seen it already. So if you have..soz :D
