Hello RAGZ - come on in and join us, it's always nice to have new friends to play with, have you got a bat badge? Cheers Lyn xxx. (p.s Bat badge not compulsory, but we'll all be jealous if you've got one) x.

No but my Mum is bat mad (and batty in general), that one on Amazon would make a great gift for her!

I have persuaded DH to put up some shelves under the stairs and in the garage for our stash.
Downloaded some apps for my android phone last night, they have survival and preppers apps. One to keep track of your food stores! An SAS survival app with a lot of the important info from the book (DH is on 3rd copy, but like the idea of having the info at hand!).

  • It's still a Bat MEME so it still counts, whatever you use it for!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.

Can I be in with the Order of the Bat ladies? :D

If anyone is still looking for a tin to put a USB in and protect from EMP then Ikea have these http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40208376/ for £4 now. Im going to use the larger tin to put things like my water purification tablets in so they're in one place, the middle one for the emergency chocolate and the round tin for the USB.

I love Kendal Mint Cake, it got me through my Duke of Edinburgh award when I was in school.
  • Hi all, have been away for a bit, and just been catching up!

I loved this thread when it first started, and how it has grown. Have been reading through and chuckling at some of the daft things on here. Also have decided to up date my prepping "to do" list.

I am still lusting after a paracord bracelet, might put it on my christmas list.

I would like to be a "bat lady", since my dd thinks I am batty anyway, :)

I've been thinking about what to put in my family's emergency grab bag. I have had several attempts over the last few months but I always get carried away and stray away from the basics and get a bit over the top and try to think of everything.

This time it's a holdall and no bigger. It's for an emergency evacuation to a centre/safe base. I can't think about any other kind of having to survive. If it's worse than that I'll just have to try to survive any way I can.

    So, 2 children, 2 adults:

    first aid kit
    torch, probably wind up
    maybe a wind up radio?
    face cloth/wipes
    toothbrushes
    toothpaste
    copies of id
    some money? how much?
    ring pull cans
    snacks
    spoons
    water, how much?
    books, colouring books
    any medication
    change underwear/socks
    jumper for each if room?

Is there anything vital you think I've missed out? Any feedback would be great. :)
