Of course I don't have a dog in this fight, but one thing that was reported over and over in our media (during and the months after the Paris attack) was how lack of communication and information sharing was adversely affecting what was actually known about terror cells in the EU.
    Don't know if that's true...
(Americans are trusting our media sources less and less)

The security services work well on a bilateral basis with those they trust. I think there is also something called the five eyes (?name) alliance whereby the US, Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand work very well together. From what I've heard the intelligence services aren't that keen on sharing with every single country in the EU and are likely to be less so if Montenegro, Albania and others eventually join, as it increases the potential for damaging leaks even further.
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

I had to look the five eyes up and WOW!! Thanks for sharing. I'm off to read more about this surveillance collaboration. Very very interesting!!
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

There's times when bilateral sharing has been a real problem, Canada regarded the CIA as a bunch of incompetents for a while (Caught In the Act) the CIA regarded us as being seriously leaky and untrustworthy (long after the Cambridge Five). The US has had separate problems with France from time to time (historically France tends to side with Arab interests, the US with Israeli)
There's also the issue of shifting political landscapes, with various European countries threatening to shift to the Right or Left which could change allegiances, and therefore what information any country is prepared to share now, in case it backfires in the future.

Despite all the high tech toys we currently have, it seems our borders are the least secure they've ever been.

    It's Bleepin' lovely here today.

    c.20 degrees, nice breeze.

Just did a 6 mile round trip to the dentist and back, and I think I'm gonna make some cherry ice-cream for tonight...

    No work till friday! :T
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

I'm lazy - I call it ice cream, but I just blitz a kilo or so of overripe cherries with a litre of greek yogurt and freeze it in about 4 large zip top bags.

Lay the bags flat in the freezer, and every hour or so, smoosh it all up to remove all clumps and smooth it out.

    :rotfl:

Nothing too complicated in this house.

    Sounds good,
Make the custard, eggs sugar and cream, allow to cool, pour into ice cream maker, switch on and add flavourings a few minutes later.
Disadvantage is a bit of kitchen gadgetry, advantage is not having to remember to smoosh the clumps to keep crystals at a minimum. (Oh and I have a pan and bowl to wash)

If you add shavings of dark chocolate to your cherries you'll be heading in the cherry garcia direction

    That does sound gorgeous!

I'm so cold here that I've had to resort to a chunky-knit jumper and a thermal vest  Ridiculous.
