Thanks for asking about me. I did post on the Kondo thread, but since then my computer has crashed three times. I removed windows ten and took it back to factory settings, then it started crashing on windows 8 as well. Now some of the keys are not working so its going to have to go to be fixed. At the moment I am on my tablet but its not easy to type on and post. My laptop is out of guarantee at eighteen months old, and I am very disappointed with it.
My husband is not very well at all . He had MRI scans the other day which show serious bone problems, but my doctor is not here till Tuesday. If OH is still in this much pain tomorrow I am going to insist that I take him to the hospital so they can check him out and see the scans, which I have . Thanks everyone.0 -
Thanks PP, that puts things into some sort of perspective! you're so right and that old saying 'Nothing new under the sun' really is the truth!
Look after yourselves up in the north, hope none of you have flooding problems because of the heavy rainfall, it's been pretty wet down here for most of the day but I guess nothing like as heavy as you have up there. Stay safe.0 -
But that's not really comparable is it. If there was a cult of blond blue eyed people engaged in terrorism and seeking to conquer and impose their own laws it would be a different story. Plus it would be human nature I'm afraid to be a little edgy around blond blue eyed people even if other blue eyed people stood up to be counted and said 'not in our name'.
Anders Behring Breivik claimed to be part of just such a cult. But as PP pointed out, there had previously been such an organisation.
Islam isn't a cult, there may be cults derived from it and within it, just as there are from and within Christianity.
According to Europol less than 2% of terrorist attacks in Europe have been carried out by Muslims.0 -

Fell asleep on the sofa last night and when I let the dog out at 1.30 am there were uncharacteristic sounds of activity plus there were cars parked on the road to my house. Darn it I thought, how dare the neiighbours have a knees up without inviting pineapple!
But this morning the cars are still there and now it is clear - whole swathes of the village green are under water and residents in low lying cottages have moved their cars. It's not just the river itself it's whether the drains can cope. I suspect I'm in a damp part of the world anyway. What possessed me to move to Cumbria?0 -
Looking at how much dredging and management needed to be done after the flooding in Somerset fairly recently I suspect that the lack of management of rivers all round the country will mean many more flooding incidents as the severe weather we're getting these days continues. That and inappropriate building on river plains and places that are known to be likely flood areas. It seems utter folly to keep pushing for more and more homes to be built when there are so many only occupied by 1 or 2 (like us) or standing empty in many areas all over the country. It surely would make more sense to refurbish those and regenerate communities rather than keep covering the earth with bricks and mortar and concrete creating ever greater run off whenever it rains heavily?0

Hoping you stay safe and dry.
Cumbria has long been famed for being wet (and big puddles) but it is pretty (when the puddles aren't heading your way.0 -
Thoughts are with our posters in the "danger area". Glad you didn't get flooded, pineapple!

MrsLW, they're banking on property going up & up forever, therefore the more property, the better off we all are - in theory! And it keeps the builders off the streets too...
Logic & common sense have nothing to do with it, this is economic theory.Angie - GC Sept 25: £226.44/£450: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 28/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0
