Just saw this site whilst perusing a home education FB page.

It's a bit like an online Cubs or Scouts - kids (or anyone, I suppose) can 'earn' badges in various disciplines. If you click the 'skills' tab at the top, this shows all the badges - not all to my taste, or my children's, but there are some very handy ones that would appeal to novice preppers, or if you'd like to teach/explain the basics to children. They are a bit basic, but useful nonetheless to give children a start.

I was chatting to the care taker of the block re last weeks fire, and apparently the new rules from the fire service are to go out onto the balconies and get rescued by the fire men and that avoids the need for them to enter the building to check that the apartments are empty. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0

:j I just got a therm-a-rest in a charity shop for a fiver. Sweet. I've never owned my own before although I've had the loan of them. It's even olive green on one side and navy on the other, so very non-lurid. Happy.
I have some recollection that they're best stored inflated (it is inflated already) is that correct?

In DH's walking days he would always just store it with the valve open and never rolled up.

I noticed in A*di this morning that they are now selling their own version of MUGSHOTS in several flavours. Mugshots are something I always keep in and we often use them for a quick lunch if we're busy on a project. They're really good because you only need boiling water for a pasta meal and there's no actual cooking involved, just a standing time and a stir.0

....and I shouldn't have started my day by watching it should I? First the German version (with a lot of it in English), then I found the copy that has been censored off YouTube has been put back up again (where it is all in English) - ie a 20 minute video "With open gates" and I certainly hadn't seen some of that footage. Once seen and you cant unsee it...
I've kept the link to the one from a German source - in case the English one gets censored off again.
...and I don't think I want to read the papers again in a minute...but it feels necessary to know what is going on...
I wasn't there in the 1930s - but I have the feeling that the 2010's are going to be worse...0 -

Heard this on the radio, haven't read it through properly, but it looks as though they might be trying to target major services like power supply, hospitals etc..

Apparently, they don't yet have the capability to do those things, but would like to. Not surprisingly.0 -

It's bigger than businesses or utility companies. It's attacks on UK power supplies, hospital, military, schools or transport. Loss of life and disruption could be huge. Could. I have just watched the press conference which suggested the jihadists are doing their best to develop capabilities to infiltrate these systems.
Money will be ploughed into protecting our systems but yes, Frugalsod, all businesses and individuals have been called upon to protect their systems, having the mindset that they are vulnerable and that it's not something that happens to other people.0
