Sorry but that is no excuse to slate the area in general.

Looking down, and making it sound we are from the dark ages, as we don't serve ' modern food' and that independent clothes shops sell fashion that came out of the ark .

These remarks were just the icing on the cake, I don't think I have ever read one good remark about the area you have moved to, which is now your home,...

I am sorry about your neighbour , but you can get that even if you buy a place down the road..

There is no way you can compare the centre of London to a west Wales village way of life...

  • Even disagreements about other folks points of view and how they are dealt with are relevant to prepping, in any situation there WILL ALWAYS be other folks who don't see the situation/world in the same way as you do, there will be clashes of personality, different ideologies, different solutions and clashes of will. Dealing with diverse types of people IS part of being prepared, it teaches you a lot about yourself to be obliged to consider other points of view and solutions to problems, it's a useful process to go through for all parties concerned.

    Totally agree Mrs LW..

I feel one very good valid point that has come out of this , it goes back to the scenario, where people need to blend in, and not stand out if there is a big SHTF moment, AND you prob will need neighbour and friends in certain SHTF moments...

Can't wait for this horrible wet weather to stop, as we are way behind in our prepping for our winter wood this year...

  • It was so dark so early last night we lit a few candles to make it feel cosy. Will give some thought to cleaning .....

Thank you, MTSTM, for clarifying your position in regard to your current home. Neighbours are such an important part in how we feel about our homes. However, as Cooltrikerchick says, you cannot judge a whole area on the behaviour of one or two ignorant people. Although I have not been to Wales personally, many people on here have praised the area and the people, and can feel hurt and offended when someone criticises them unfairly. It is also true that comparing a remote country location with a big city is a waste of time as there are so many differences.

If you are unhappy with your neighbour, you have a choice - move somewhere else, or try to find some way of coping with the situation. If what you say is true about previous problems, it sounds like your neighbour might just have been born obnoxious, and you can be as nice and friendly as you like but you won't change that person.

I think, as Mrs LW says, part of prepping is being prepared to cope with all sorts of people and their "baggage". Perhaps if you avoid the neighbour as much as possible, just restrict communication to a civil "Good morning" if need be, and try and cultivate friendships with others in the area. You chose to relocate to Wales, there must have been attractions about the area, so enjoy those, make yourself a good life and let the not so nice individuals stew in their own juices!

I am lucky we have decent neighbours but I have had some right rum ones in the past so can sympathise.

    Many thanks for that, Witless.

The only place I've come across this fabric is in my sewing book so I'd assumed it was the American name for something we give a different name to, but that's evidently not the case if it used to be made in England!

A quick search for Challis fabric brought up lots of pictures but this one was probably the best
