Since it was very sunny (but cold) over the weekend I thought I'd do a load of washing to hang on the line and put some seedlings in the garden. I should have known better than to tempt fate - it snowed for 30 minutes on Sunday. Just enough for me to get wet bringing the half dried washing in. The second I'd taken the washing off the line the snow retreated and it was back to glorious sunshine.GC Feb 25 - £225.54/£250 Mar £218.63/£2400

I hate to say it, but it didn't get that cold here... we're very sheltered, and almost as far south (in the middle) as you can get without falling in, and it kind of blew hot & cold all weekend. The breeze was cold, but as soon as it dropped it felt warm again, and it's glorious this morning. We've had sunflowers sprout up over the weekend in a pot that's totally unprotected, except by a carrier bag.
Did some unexpected preserving yesterday; I was given a bag of going-over strawberries as the market was closing down, so made some jam. But it's not going to be cluttering the shelves up for long; we're into the second pot of three already!Angie - GC Aug25: £292.26/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -

Elaine, so very sorry to hear about the loss of your mum and your horrible illness - enough to try the strongest soul. Do hope you and your partner get well very soon - at least it's now Spring (most days ...). Take it easy, and well done on the prepping. xx0

Do you think some days when you wake up you might be living in a parallel universe?

At least the wasps won't be buzzing but then neither will the bees.

I suppose it'd be nothing other than pure wickedness to tell you that I can see a flawless blue sunny sky outside my window Dahn Sarf and that the sum total of the snow seen for the whole of the winter 2014-2015 has been one 15 minute snow shower several months ago?
Oh, I am a wicked person.......... who is going to be stuck in an office for most of the day so not going to be gardening, either. And we are still having occasional frosts, if that's any consolation.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Looks as if it could be a nice sunny day with blue skies and a little bit breezy.
Youngest is being driven back to uni today and older DD and SIL went back down south last night.
They will all come back to stay at the weekend unless there is any more news from the hospital.
DH was admitted last Wednesday as he suddenly became very
weak and we were told a couple of days later that it looked as if the cancer had come back and he did not have long.
Hospital is assessing him today to work out the best place for him to be over the next week as being on a busy ward is not ideal.
I hoped I had somehow misunderstood what I was told on Friday bur older DD who has a biomedical background was with me yesterday when we saw the medical team and the news was repeated.
Just so glad we had our wedding blessing on the 11th and he saw friends he had not seen for years. It was a perfect day and it meant a lot to be in the church where most of his family had been married.
So glad I have bits and bobs in the freezer and cupboards as I don't like to leave the house in case I miss a phone call."This site is addictive!"
