Nope Frugalsod...I can confirm that, from where I'm standing, you've never been abusive to anyone. I've not always agreed with what you said - but you've always been polite and calm.0

I like to think of us as like a group of people bringing dishes to a potluck supper. We all have different things which we're good at and bring them to the feast. Participants can wander around and sample (or not) as they see fit.
I myself have an almost childish awe of techy people, since I'm poorly-skilled on that side of things. But plants seem to get on when I plant them and I have a few other things I can do.
Lyn, got slightly muddled, but was it you who posted about making a cooked beetroot preserve with raspberry jelly? I did this last autumn and have been delighted with the results, as have others who have shared the largesse, so would like to thank you. If it wasn't you, I'd like to thank whomever if they'd please identify themselves.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

The flat I found the guitar in had a dog.
Today I've been cleaning the kitchen wall, floor & worktop to the side of the sink where there are no units but just a worktop above the washing machine, tumble drier & water softener.
OMG, I don't think my tenant has swept there since he moved in in 2010.
Everything is thick with grease & dog hair!
I just left the tumble drier hose to soak in the bath, but have only done a tiny bit with water and kitchen cleaner. (No point in hoovering as the grease sticks everything together.)
Any suggestions?0 -
sugar soap. I had the same issue when we moved into this house. Sugar soap is wonderful stuffIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Grease comes off better if there is a bit of abrasion in it, so think washing up liquid with a bit of wash powder in it, rub on bit you want to clean then use water as hot as you can stand, to get grease and soap suds off.hth
I'd forgot about sugar soap! Agree with Mary, it is good stuff, and you got liquid or powder form to try.£71.93/ £180.000 -
Hi GQ yes that's one of mine, glad you liked it and those of your aquaintance who tried it. It's a good way of using up gluts of beets when they all come together.0

When I moved in here I had the boiler serviced... what I thought was insulation inside the cover was apparently dog hair :cool:0 -

I second MaryB with the suggestion of sugar soap. The house we've just moved into must have been owned by people who really enjoyed deepfrying. On my second large bottle of sugar soap presently, and it goes a long way  If there's a lot of thick grease on the top of any units, soak some strong sugar soap solution into it and get a paint scraper (and a strong stomach).Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Ammonia is also a really cheap and efficient grease remover - niffs a bit & you need to follow the instructions properly but it certainly saves a lot of elbow grease.
Really strong soda crystal solution mixed with biological wash powder shifts the grot too:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls
